The rules for this build:

0. The theme is 'Advancing old technology'. Build the ultimate in piston engined airplanes. Ultimate engines mated to the ultimate airframe. This means the timeframe is from 1945 onwards.

1. No jets, rockets or turboprops. Piston means that - piston. I'll allow RATOG gear on the technicality that it's merely used for takeoff and then jettisoned. Turbochargers, superchargers and other appendages are allowed, but there has to be a piston engine at the centre of it all.

2. The original rules proposed by Wooksta said 'warplanes only, no racers'. I'd prefer the scope of the GB to be not too narrow so I'd allow racers. After all, we're not breaking up real, rare warbirds here.

2a. Airliners, mail planes etc. are allowed.

3. Use of advanced aerodynamics (such as swept wings) is permitted.

4. Start is Sunday October 14, 0:00. Buying kits, desprueing, making decals can be done before that, but construction starts on the 14th.

5. End is Saturday February 2, 2008, 23:59

6. Prizes are to be announced.

Discussion welcome, if the rules are amended I'll edit this post so you can always find the latest here.

Can i use an old completed model, and convert it to something new? (not just a repaint, but new nose/engines/wings/etc.)

Hobbes

Yes, if the changes are that extensive I'll allow it.

Ok, in that case im thinking of converting an old airfix Bleinheim into some kind of vietnam era COIN plane
