Would I be able to build an advanced HA-300 1/72 from junk?

Let me begin with an Airfix MiG-21F and a KP Albatros

Intakes made with halves of center body tank from Italeri's F-4S.

Wings from the old Heller MiG-21. Even if model is crap from an accuracy point of view, wings look nice and are thinner than Airfix's model ones.

It was intentional to use less swept wings and have greater wingspan. My version is an HA-350, not an HA-300, intended as a light tactical fighter-bomber limited to mach 1.6

Now, some questions about engine:

I am thinking in equipping it with dry RR Avon

Would it fit? Tumansky R-11 906 mm diameter, Avon 1050 mm diameter. Airfix model is a little oversized anyway.

Could a dry Avon be supersonic? Supercruise in 60s?

I agree completely. And I'm impressed by the way that you can identify parts from unrelated kits that will come together so effectively.

Very impressive! You are an inspiration to me. :)

That's some incredible work blending in the nose and modifying those intakes, Ysi! Top-notch sir!

Very impressive work, there.  I admit, I'd be sorely tempted to do one of the earlier inlet versions with Fieri inlets.  No particular reason save that I think they add to the menacing look.
