QuoteThe B-36 being upgraded with turboprops and more effective jets to lay down bomb mats during vietnam and WoT

Already in planning stages - idea is that B-52 and B-60 are cancelled due to budget cuts and the USAF are forced to soldier on with upgraded B-36s until the early '80s at least.

B-36s in modern service might not be too plausable, but I could totally see C-99s upgraded with turboprops(as intended) going into the '70s onward.

...been thinking about making Meteors and Venoms as bad arse night crawlers all yesterday evening, and this is sort of what i'm thinking about:

Ladies and gentlemen, the 2008 Gloster Meteor - various optics, new cockpit and control surfaces, dorsal spine for fuel....just go to swap out the engines (maybe - i like this "as is" more than i thought i would) for turboprops and we're good to go.

Don't think that i like the 2008 model year Venom as much...

I love them both!!!

The Meteor really makes you look twice - would look great in plastic!

The Vampire has a real COIN bird look to it.

Great work - how about a turbo prop spitfire?

Rather than B-36s how about the 'Big Belly' B-52Ds? The Pacer Plank re-build/upgrade would have theoretically allowed the Delta models to serve until the turn of the century without any extra structural work.

The Delta model was able to carry more iron bombs than the latter Golf and Hotel models after the 'Big Belly' mod, so it would probably have been able to carry more PGMs as well. They would certainly have been a useful extra capability during Desert Storm, and later over 'stan and Iraq.

Greg,

she's a bit rough and ready. but something like this?

You can keep your Super Tucano, the 2008 model Spitfire is the aircraft of choice for the discerning customer.

variation on the same theme...

modernized seahawk?  Sort of an "intruder lite" i suppose - one for the Brazilians perhaps? (although you would think that a seagoing AMX would be a natural choice).

[1960s mode one]
Imagine what the C-130 would look like if it reached 50 years :P [/1960s mode off]
(with the current situation, they might even pass 100 years  )

Seriously, aircraft id like to see today:
Skyraider (turboprop? Wingtip tanks? 2 seat F-16 type cockpit? Maveriks/Hellfires?)
Curtiss Comando (ASW boom, SAAF markings and turboprops! Comandletons?)
Piper L-4 Cub (Super Cub!)

Skyraider on the way actually, and a Supermarine Attacker too.  Grumman Panther looks promising as well...

It took me such a long time to figure out what to say......

For Meteor as a night intruder...... I'd probably have based it on a T.7 airframe (for a two-seater) with elements from the experimental Reaper variant.

I've been always trying to imagine a MiG-9 with swept wings as well solid nose and lateral intakes like those of Q-5?   ;D

And after revisiting the PS2 game "Warship Gunner 2", I started imagining Sea Vampire and single-seat version of Sea Venom outfitted as counterparts of A-4 Skyhawk and sharing flight decks with F-4K......
To the individual soldiers, *everything* is a frontal assault!

Current Hobby Priority...... Sigh......

To-do list here

Daryl J.

C-118 box stock save for electronics upgrades.

Vigilante continuing until the current time in the USN and USAF.

P-26 in a training role, wider landing gear stance to reduce groundloop/rollover accidents

AT-6 continued in its role unchanged.

MiG-17 still active, more fuel efficient.

1957 Chevy...the only upgrade would be audio equipment.

Boeing Monomail with fixed gear....now used by FedEx/UPS/DHL for short range delivery.

Comet....more fuel efficient, but left as beautiful as ever

T-33 used until 2075 or later.
