Who says it has to be fith generation aircraft? Mig-21s and F-4s in their basic versions were state of the art Air Dominance fighters when they came out. The current F-22s will be no less than a hopelessly old fashioned aircraft by 2050, in the same way we look at the F-4 today.

As was the Fokker Eindecker when you think about it!

I do  ;D

Actually the idea is for aerial donkey-kicking in our modern times, so while the focus is in 4th and 5th gen jet fighters, ultra-upgrades are okay.

If you can come up with a way to make a Gloster Meteor competitive in the 21st century, you're more than invited.

Well with a bit of engine shielding, a Fokker Eindecker might be difficult to see on radar and to slow for a modern type to intercept easily (anyone remember the Simpsons episode with the F-16s trying to intercept the Wright flyer?)  ;D.

Until he runs into the equally slow Warthog.

We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.
