Looks very good! It gives the Spitfire a more of a bruiser image, IMO.

Thanks again for all the positive comments

Progress continues to be slow but steady. Painting and varnishing is now complete and the only thing left is to add the transfers (or decals, depending on your age and geographical location  :D ) and the main wheels and to give it a final coat of matt varnish.

Oddly, as I go on with this project, I find myself almost believing that it really existed   . I'll be interested to see if I get a similar reaction when I take it to a show - a few years ago I did an Il-2 "zwilling" which seemed to take on a life of its own and, by the end of the show, I'd simply given up explaning that it wasn't real - - -

Beautiful, and let those judges eat whiffcake !

I hope to get this finished in the next couple of days but, unfortunately, I've now hit the start of my annual workload nightmare  :(  - between now and 31 January I'll be completing at least three sets of accounts and tax returns per day (including weekends and New Year's Day! ) to meet the UK tax filing deadline, so my modeling (and sleeping) time is going to be minimal.

Ohhhh, you make it look so easy!  Another treat for my McGreig archives: thanks.

Here's hoping you can beat the work grind long enough to get this one done.

Finished! The January work nightmare is over and I can get back to modelling.  This has now become my entry for the Piston Perfection GB and more pics of the finished model are in that thread.

The last photo here shows the radial Spitfire with a standard MkV (albeit in a whiffed colour scheme).

That's some choice work there!

Hi there,

This model has inspired me.  Why?  Well I think I mentioned in the Piston Perfction thread (maybe somewhere else) of my project to 'in-line' an La-5.  With the left over engine Plan A was to produce Khazakhstan's only indigenous aircraft, the 'Sagdeyev Sag-1 Borat', by grafting it on to a Frog/Novo/Eastern Express/Revell/Uncle Tom Cobley and all Skua.
Well I happen to have a leftover, engineless and fin/rudderless Airfix Kittyhawk (no, not the source of the engine for the La-5) which will now be the basis of the 'Borat'.  So whatch this space and thanks again for encouraging the penny to drop!
