You people seem to like the little BIP (b=bitz) I post for the dio, so I thought I might add these figure chops.

This figure came with an Ebah job lot and I think its from the Tamiya Lanc kit. I know, if its a verdamt einglander whats it doing in a German dio, but overalls is overalls right. Anyways it meant minimum cleanup and work so I used it, but then its feet looked a bit rough and I chopped them of just below the knee and added a resin pair of feet in flying boots from the same job lot. These were drilled and pinned to the figure and the trouser bottoms added with Milliput. Obviously still needs a lot of work but his shoulders look as if he has a walking stick in his right hand so he is or will be a Luft technician doing factory work till his wounds heal, possably teaching Hawk 101 to the workers.

This Tamiya figure was very similar to the one on the right so after Dremelling off the jacket detail with a router bit, I cut off the arms and removed the hands and refitted them as shown. Then I made a overall coat again from Milliput and attached small balls of Milliput to represent the hands. Once this had set up the pockets were just small slabs of filler stuck over his `hands` (I was going to type balls but this is a family show) and cut to shape when still soft with a scalpel. Not sure but this may end up as a female in a turban as its quite a slender figure.

This is an old Bandai soviet tanker and he`s getting a bib`n`brace. Like the above figure the detail and pistol holster were removed with the Dremel and some more Milliput slabed on with detail at the sides to look like pockets and trouser bottoms added over the boots.

As you can see there`s plenty left to do on these and the other 4 figures I`m creating for the model but at the moment I`m stuck for an SS officer and a suited civilian inspecting the work.

When this dio`s finished I have decided to restart work on an old model of an Me 109G-10 in Croatian markings that surrenderd to the USAAF in Italy near the end of the war. This is going to need at least 18-25 figures to try to recreate the photo below. Anyone know of a good reference for US Air Force uniforms of the period?

I just love your updates on your dios, HOG. It's a treat to have you explain all your modelling tricks. Here's a link from the U.S. Air Force museum website that might help: W.W. II U.S. Air Corps uniforms.

Boy this place is getting prolific, I had to go back 9 pages to find this.

Anyhows not alot done due to other outside modeling pressures, but the figure conversions above are done and primed for painting, and  I sourced a Tamiya `Inf on Manouvers` set on eBah that should supply a couple of SS officers when it comes.

Otto Klumph. In the luftwaffe since before the Condor legion days. Injured on duty and now acting as instructor on Hawk engines.

Here we have fraulien Smidt. First day on the job with the boys.

Lex Loofah. Not the brightest bulb in the box but reliable enough to follow instructions

The new addittion to the gang. Had he been born 10 years later he could have made a living as a film star stand in.

Hopefully the next time you see this motley crewe the`l have been painted and installed in the dio with the others.
Cheers for now :drink:

I don't think I've ever seen figures with so much character and personality before HOG! You're truly an artist.

I know I said somthing about some SS officers but it`s starting to look a bit crowded as it is. Just the clear sides and top to go but your not interested in that so enjoy and crititism welcomed.

That's some astonishing work, HOG! I just love how your diorama tells a story and there's so many little vignettes in it that one could never lose interest! Your attention to detail is top-notch! This one is sure to bring home a blue ribbon or two (or three or four....).
