Thanks guys for the nice verbals

The floor is being redone, phots to follow. I don`t mind redoing bits of models as long as what happens is an improvement on what was there before. This is an incentive to improve a few niggles from the first attempt.

I've been lurking around this thread for a long time, and I just cannot stay quiet any more. Mentioned elsewhere, this isn't as much model building but an exercise in craftsmanship.... Superb work, Gary, simple as that.

Heyo Alls,
Back on course again with the floor repainted. During the repaint I redid the `panel` size from 3" to 3 1/2" square. Nothing wrong with the earlier size but the old squares fitted the base exactly, and this way it at least gives the impression of the dio continuing beyond the modelled area

The other mod` I wanted to do was give the edge between the floor and the upright wall a brick edge, but with the scale size of a 9x4.5 inch brick being around 1x2 twelths of a inch I`m working on it.
Just for novelty value and a inwork sort of view heres a rough layout shot

and some views from around scale figure height.

I really like the last three type of view as it gives me a good feel of how the dio`s going and as the images are at least 2-3 times life size, glareing errors show up really well.

A small point. I post images, ideas and general mayhem on here for for the express reason of feedback and your opinion. If you feel strongly enough to comment fine, if not thats fine to. But lurking seems such a negative term.
More soon, Gary

If this were my dio, I'd have an allied medium bomber flying overhead dropping its payload, maybe a B-26 Marauder or DH Mosquito?

I know just what you want for feedback, complications! I really like how you've re-worked the floor and was most impressed by the marks from the door you did. This really adds a sense of personality.

Hoyhoy All,
Not been doing much lately as my very expectant daughter is sitting in the high chair giving orders like there was no tommorrow. Obviously manyanna (is that how you spell it?) is a foreign word to her.
Anyways been back on the Natter plumbing the engine, not a job I normally enjoy but perhaps a day without SWMBO has had a good effect.
This is how you last saw it, or what the kit gives you plus some inside detailing.

And this is what it looks like now

For once I`m quite pleased with the result.
All comments, advice, claims for damages etc on the back of a self adressed stamp please,
regards Gary

ps nope its manana she tells me, just like in poltergiest  "Their back"

That's some mighty fine detailing, HOG! It certainly looks the real deal. How to you come up with the patience to do such nice work?

Hoyhoyo

Cold, wet, very windy day here in the UK has kept me at the workbench, mainly because I`m the only one at home and the anglepoise lights give out some serious heat.
Gave the crane/derrick a quick drybrush and a slight weathering as below. Realised I needed somthin to go on the end of the thing, a hook or somthin and found some bits as below from an old wooden ship kit, that I think I might enter for the junkyard build ;D. Also found an old block of MDF that I had finished as a rule for my experiments in flower sizes in Geranium cultivars and hybrids (don`t ask) which gives an idea of real size ( block is 1 x 2 inch)

Not especially good pics but at least it gives the general gist,
Now I`ve got this crazy idea of suspending the M55 Natter from the crane as if being lowered onto the trailer. Any thoughts out there for webbing straps?
Regards all

Mossie

Decorators masking tape folded to the right thickness & size?  You can dry brush it to bring out the pattern & add a bit of muck & grease likes it's been regularly used in a workshop.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Cheers Mossie
I`ll give it a go.

Hoyhoy`all,

Tried our tape idea Mossie and so far so good and will post pictures later.

Meanwhile back at the Batcave (or Hogcupboard, where I live) I`ve come to the stage where I have to make the forms to make the bits to make the diorama.
Here in the first pic are L-R  fire alarm bell. fire bucket and light shade formers

and in the second pic half hour and several charred digits later the moulded items

Very simple system, milliput former in pinvise in big vise,  30thou p/card in bulldog clips, cooked gently at lowest heat setting from hotair gun and when floppy.....THRUST! but watchout the clips do get hot and half molten polycard not only burns but wraps itself around and moulds itself to your blister, not an experience to recommend for breaking the ice at parties unless it`s those sort of parties.
Enjoy your Easter and regards
