After spending the last month on two "real world" projects, I needed a break from reality, so I hauled out an old 17 in 1/72nd for some colourful whatiffery:

Is this the old Revell kit?  Brings back Christmas memories from one year, when I was about 10, and built one.  No paint, glue smears everywhere, but every moving part worked.  Hmm, not much has changed in 30-some years!

Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

Yep, that's the kit alright !  after spending days building photo etch bits and pieces for one project , I needed something fun and simple.

Had to make six hasps out of 6 pcs of photoetch:

PsR just beginning, along with some body modifications:

Nice...the B-17 is one sacred a/c to me. The old man had a paperback book when we were kids, with tonnes of photos of battle-damaged aeroplanes that made it back, Just awesome.

The tailplanes look big. Is that a mod or just my eyes when the wings aren't present ?

Also spotted a pair of B-25 chin guns in the corner......Hmmmm......

Looking forward to more of this one, Greg !

CANADA KICKS arse !!!!

Long Live the Commonwealth !!!

Thanks all !  It is nice to be whatiffing after the last two builds, so much fun, I am still awake and painting at 2 a.m. :

Wow that's some fantastic work, Greg! I love the MAD boom on the tail and that NMF looks killer! I'm really going to enjoy seeing you finish this in a "Yellow Wings" scheme!
Top shelf!

I love the metal and yellow, with olive drab and blue bits here and there...just finished casting the mold for the airborn torps, I'm going to need a bunch!

Looks great so far      and I'm especially impressed that you can make the old Revell kit look so good

It was just what the Dr. ordered...a nice two day whatif to get me back in the grooove.  Camera battery is charging,  will upload some in progress shots asap, I am really happy with the new experiments with wood stain.

Here we are at the midpoint of weathering:
