I've found that white school glue like Elmer's is excellent for filling canopy gaps (if they're 1/16 of an inch or smaller). I'm impressed by your perseverance!

Go, Mossie! Go!

Go Mossie!

Don't forget, a fuzzy digicam pic hides many a modelling sin!

And remember, the goal here is to actually finish a model!

Go for it Duncan!  It's nice kit of a lovely looking aircraft.  The way I see it is that although the real aircraft had reliability problems with it's powerplant, it could have made for an alternative to the F-104 had the F11F-1F been accepted or Evans idea of an Avon powered machine been realised.  This opens up F-104 & Mirage customers for a start, that alone gives a lot of options.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Time for an update, please (we promised ya we'd try our best to keep ya motivated...)   ;D

Thanks again Baz!  I've stalled a bit on this at the moment, there's several reasons.  Firstly, real life, seeing freinds, going out with the missus etc.  Second, had a nasty gastric bug last week, won't go into any gory details but it was "short but sharp".  Not nice, slowed me down a fair bit.  Then thirdly there was work.  There was a major bust up other a minor matter last Friday & I got caught in the middle.  Not my fault, but it didn't seem to matter as I'm not exactly blue eyed boy after having a long period on sick last year & I was just starting to sort things out.  Luckily, it blew over & others came to my help & it was pointed out it was little to do with me, but I'd been scouring the job ads as I thought it was effectively the end of my career at this place, even if nothing had been taken further.  This, plus just feeling sapped of energy didn't make me feel inclined to model over the last weekend.

I haven't been completely idle though, I've been trying to putt the top coat on my model.  I've just had trouble thinning the acrylics & what with everything else I started losing momentum.  I tried cellulose thinners as Gary mentioned but they are a little too aggressive & I also had to clean up my model when I got something (no ide what) on my brush that turned the paint into a nasty gunk.  Then I tried water & I was adding washing up liquid as mentioned but I couldn't figure out whay I was getting bubbles!  Do'h!  Of course, it's obvious now that I was putting too much washing up liquid in, but for some reason I hit a blank on that for a couple of days.  You know when you have one of those 'slap your head' moments???

The missus is out tonight with work so I'll be having a pure modelling evening.  I'll give the thinning one more chance, if it doesn't work then I'll just coat the whole thing in drab & give it a gloss coat & make it an eighties era machine, they replaced the matt finish around this time.  So it's stalled a bit, but I haven't given up, might have done before at this point.  I'm determined to have it done for next weekend, for the show in Huddersfield on Sunday 17th.

What kind? Wouldnt be the soar throat and vomiting (aka kissing disease)?

Mossie

Well, vomiting of a kind, but not from the front end..... :o :o :o  To be honest, I got away fairly lightly, it's done the rounds here & my wifes boss got it very bad, he was letting go from the front too(!!!).  I felt very bad for about two days, should have stayed off work really, then another two days feeling slightly crap, after that I was fine

Won't be able to post any progress this weekend as my home computer has gone t!ts-up, a freindly IT guy is looking at it for us for cost only.  He found 64 viruses & spyware on it, despite paying a subscription for anti-virus software. >:( >:( >:(

Okay, just thought I'd give you the nudge.  Hope things get better, both GI-tract-wise and work.

Looking forward to your next posting of progress....this one will be quite the looker, don't forget that.

Sorry about the in depth details guys, stuff like that doesn't worry me & I forget it freaks others out.  I do it to my mates all the time, they all ways tell me to shut up but I tend to forget.

Some progress, but no pics as although my home computer is working again, I need to re-install the software for the ISP, but I can't find it!  Didn't get anything done at the weekend, I was just worn out & couldn't contemplate modelling.  Slept a full 15 hours Saturday, guess my body was catching up from the illness & stress at work.

I've decided to ditch the weathering job.  Firstly, I'm just having difficulty thinning the paint, this is one thing I didn't expect would be difficult with acrylics but you live & learn.  Second, as Nev & others have mentioned, the object is to finish something, which I've been getting away from.  So now it's an all out slog to finish it for the weekend so I can take it to the Huddersfield show.  I got a coat on last night, then a coat of Klear (thanks Lee) to make the second coat easier.  I also did some of the 'sundries' like undercarriage & weapons fit.

Allo?  Feelin better?  PC up and running with ISP software an' all?
Any new progress to report?    -_-

FINISHED!!!!!!

Thanks for all your encouragement guys, wouldn't have been able to do it without your help!  I did a secret little dance when I got the final touch ups on!!!  It's doing the trip to Huddersfield tomorrow, so I'll get some better pics when I can.  I'll post a new thread with a back story & stuff!

THANK YOU!!!
