hmm, quite a few kits and bits over christmas....

academy 1/72 F-16C USAF and RoKAF boxings
hobbyboss 1/72 A-7B, E and H
hasegawa 1/72 draken austrian AF double kit one
tamiya 1/35 kubelwagen maintainance set

lots of decal sheets. modeldecal for their wiff value and twobobs for
the real world special schemes. the draken kit also to my delight came
with the decal sheet twice!

mind you i was rather miffed to see that one of the options in the A-7B kit
i had already made up and displayed at SMW2008.  :banghead:

ah, sweet mysteries of kit building eh?!

Got a nice package with today's mail...

2x Tiger UHT/ Tigre HAP by RoG in 1/72 for 5.80€ each
2x NH90 TTH by RoG in 1/72 for 8.90€ each
1x F-105G in 1/48 by Rog for, wait for it....., 4.90€  :o

All these bargains courtesy of Amazon.de!

The F-105G may become a Strike Thud. An oxymoron tautology*, I know, but wait for the story. The USAF stuck to its "Not a pound for air-to-ground"-policy regarding the Eagle, so there never was a Strike Eagle. So Republic offered a modernized, re-engined Thud for the job.

One of the Tigers and one of the NH90s will be mashed to form the AH90 BTH (battlefield transport helicopter). I believe someone did a profile of that, which sparked the idea of bashing the two kits. I don't remember who it was, though. GTX, maybe?

* EDIT: Had to get my English literary terms right.
Cheers,
Moritz

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

Yep, that would be me - the AH-90 Devil Assault Helicopter (also known as the "Euro-Hind"):

Look forward to seeing it in plastic - I'm personally waiting for a pair of 1/48  kits to do it with.

Regards,

Greg
All hail the God of Frustration!!!

Euro-Hind!  I intend to attach the Tiger's stub wings above the MLG sponsons at cabin top height (just above the counter-measures panel in the drawing). Don't know how that will work with crew-served weapons sticking from the windows, though.

I already did some measuring and the Tiger's fuselage behind the cockpit is a bit higher than the NH-90`s. So the roof-mounted sight will sit a bit higher. Good thing these fancy new composite rotor blades don't flex as much.  ;D

Had a sale raid today, and finally succumbed to a pair of Marks and Spencer's 1/144th Concordes at £9 each: all they had left were the Concordes and the Cutty Sarks.... One will probably be kept for RW, the other whiffed. No idea what yet, but not a Bombcorde 'cos it's been done to death. I've got enough MiG-21s that some variation on the Analog sounds good....

Got home to find that my package from Hannants had finally, finally got here: one Eastern Express An-72P in 1/72nd    To be an "An-72K" gunship for the Afghanistan War, as previously much discussed, when I get the nerve up... It looks like quite a nice kit, although I've yet to find out about parts fit though. There's a basic interior which is going to make the gunship conversion "interesting" since it effectively means that the fuselage is double-skinned. The An-72's ramp arrangement is also replicated and works, there's a bit of shallow engine detail under openable panels and all the "P" bits are present and correct, except that one of the depth charges has lost a fin; at the factory, 'cos it's not in the box - easily fixed if I wanted it (which I don't).

This little classic arrived on xmas eve

Won off eBay in the first week of December, but only just got around to posting the pic. Been back again today and just won a 1:48 HobbyBoss Mirage IIIC for just £13.00 including the postage !

Will probably be RW as I have an original 1:48 Esci Mirage IIIE to WhIf.

So..... has anybody got any decals for a 1:72 F-80 ??
