Today I went to Hobbytown USA in Austin and got a Revell 1/48 Dauntless(cause I needed the airbrakes) and a B-25 (for a turret) This is the second Hobbytown that I have been in that no longer carries sanding sticks. We are definitly in the endtimes. >:(

I took the plunge and bought an Airfix Gladiator.  What a parcel of excrement!

Well, the artwork is nice, the decal sheet is superb and the instructions for said decals are top banana.  And you get a three blade prop which must be new.  Except the rest of it is a kit the Romans left behind.

Having said that, the fuselage will provide the basis for a Bristol fighter proposal from the early 30s.  I hope.

Trev Snowden mentioned it was as per the orginal tooling (the 2nd aircraft tool airfix ever did) last night duering his talk at Doncaster (after the IPMS AGM).

I came away with the new Zvezda PE-8 heavy bomber. looks a bit daunting when u open the box.
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

hmm, for part 2 of my birthday spree at hannants i added....

matchbox challenger MBT
special hobby DH hornet F3/F4
a modeldecal sheet with 15 and 16 sqn  :tornado: and a couple of harrier T4N's on it
tally ho! RBF tags [damn it they are tiny in 1/72!]
superscale sheet 72-904 [with a couple of F-18's on that one]
some paint [inc that new RAE drone cream color that xtracolor are doing]
a couple of books, one about the point mugu base and the other the topshots book on the F-16C/D blk52 which
came with a free multi scale sheet for polish F-16's

so all in all a good haul over two days.

Well, as mentioned nipped in to Monk Bar Models & came out with an Italeri 1/72 Agusta AB 204B.  Nearly picked up a Revell MH-53, but to be honest I want (need) an earlier model & I'll probably order the Bilek incarnation from Hannants as it's on offer at the mo.  I think the Bilek kits are just re-boxings of the Italeri kits, can anyone confirm this?

Succumbed.  Bought the MH-53J today!  I'm a weak, weak, man, or to qoute the Gene Genie, "You great... soft... sissy... girlie... nancy... French... bender... Man United supporting POOF!"  Although I don't support Man United.  That's the Missus's sticker on the car window.  Honest.  Really!!!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Radish

1/72nd Airfix Gladiator....it's the original as described by Wooksta earlier....the cowling is truly abysmal and the pilot is a solid hump moulded in head and shoulders format in each fuselage half. Cute.
The decals look OK, but closer inspection reveals that the mixture of pre-War BRIGHT colours and Ww2 Dull colours are confusingly used...pre-War Sqn stripes in dull colours?
However, painting a Glad in Camo colours and then applying the stripes could confuse people nicely
The decals are for 72 Sqn (pre-war) and 3 Sea Gladiators (hence the 3-blade prop) on Malta...Faith, Hope and Charity.
It'll be extremely useful, though, as what-if material....thinking Poland and various WW1 German schemes, as well as French too.

2 x 1/72nd Airfix Dragon Rapides for the Biggles Collection....one will be captured German.
1/72nd SPAD XIII by Academy
2 x 1/72nd SPAD XIII by Revell
1/72nd Academy Sopwith Camel
1/72nd Revell Fokker Dr.1

Bonzer for the Biggles Collection......in full research and flow.....rigging!! ha!!!

WAIT A MINUTE

I've been to your lair recently and IMHO you've got enuff A-4's to start a breeding colony - what's wrong with you...... No scratch that I KNOW what's wrong with you, and using that old "mid-life crisis" excuse isn't going to work this time..... why haven't you bought an inpractical sports car like the rest of us, instead of multiple Hasegawa Skyhawks.....
