Part of it might be because the Matchbox kit makes a IIIB two-seater. That's not common, though I wouldn't be surprised if Heller didn't do a IIIB too.

Actually it doesnt. Its just a single seater  Heres the box:

On a second note, the seller did seem like a collector (the type that collects rare kits, but not for building)...

My apologies: I was thinking of this one:

I thought it had alternate noses, but apparently not.

I don't want to party-poop Trevor, but yesterday on the Aviation Megastore' weekly NewsLetter I saw they have 'in stock' the 1/72 scale Mach II kit of the Viscount, that's the one that I'll be after even though I have a 1/72 Rug Rats Resins one to build.

AeroplaneDriver

The fine folks at the US Postal Service brought me my first Hobby Boss kit today, a 1/72 A-7A.  I got it from Spaced Marine on ARC for under $15, shipping included.  (He's got quite a few kits for sale, and was great to work with.)

The level of detail is incredible.  The fuselage halves had been removed from the trees and dry fitting shows that the fit is good, but not flawless like some Hase and Tamiya kits.
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Maverick

I finally got a couple of kits delivered via evilBay, namely Zvezda's Russian SF Fire Support team & German Sturmpionieres.

The Sturmpioniere kit is brilliant.  With five of the six troops supplied, the option is there to either use arms with hands that have grips, handles etc already moulded on or to use alternate arms with bare hands & separate items of kit.  One of the great disappointments to me of their Vympel counter-terrorist set was that each weapon had a hand or sometime both moulded into it.  This kit totally rectifies this issue, giving the modeller a choice which is a really nice touch.

Regards,

Mav

Good news: the dirt cheap Airfix Me-262 I ordered off ebay arrived, eager to donate it's canopy to the cause of Bf-109 vision improvement.

Bad news: the Airfix canopy is so different to the Smer one that gave me the idea that it's unuseable.... So I'll be keeping my eyes open for a cheap (non-Hi-Tech) Smer one, or possibly buying an aftermarket one for the Smer kit.....

Silver lining: never having had an Airfix 262 before, I was pleased to discover that the slanted bit of the engine pods that mates up with the swept leading edge is molding onto the wing, rather than the pod, thus giving the pods a straight mating surface that would match up with anything.

A Ju 88 and He 219 in 1:72, both free(!!) from Aircav ( ). The 219 dates from 1973 according to the instructions, making it substantially older than me! Not sure what I'm going to do with them yet, but they'll come in useful for something.

I fancy one of those Xtrakit Sea Vixens, and I may also get a couple of Valom kits as well - the Fisher P-75 and the Boeing XF8B-1 both look rather cool. I want a British Phantom as well. Plus I need some paint. Now I just need some money...

Went to Doncaster Aeroventure on Friday - Isaac had tremendous fun playing in all the cockpits, endless trips to Africa in the Westland Scout  - and as a Fathers Day present was allowed to get a Hasegawa 1/48 F-1 with decals for the 3 Squadron retirement scheme

My new stepmother came by today with Dad for a visit.  She likes to peruse garage sales and thrift stores, and she found the following for me:

Glencoe Models 1/48 US Coast Guard Rescue Boat

As an added bonus, the box also contained most of a Matchbox Bf-109 (not sure of the model).  It's missing a canopy and decals, but it looks ripe for a kitbash of some sort.

I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

And you would be right....

Mrs Falcon actually spotted the shop last weekend and let Falcon loose in the place (which was very nice of her ).

Took Duncan over and found said tooms and plenty of other attractionsto empty the wallet.

Came out with two of the Tooms, a Heller E-3F and had my arm twisted very loosely to add another Nimrod to the stash :banghead:

Well worth a visit and as it has a stream railway and a bronte style high street on the other side of the hill itwell worth a visit
