Mmmmm, Saab J21!  What's the Heller kit like?  I'd like to get hold of the J21R especially, if I can find it.

The Heller kit is quite good Simon. Watch the u/c thou, its a bit flimsey. As for the J21R. Broplan do/did a vac form conversion. You can somethimes get it via the boys of the Swedish aircraft SIG. (thats were I got mine). Other wise give Aeroclub a try, they seem to be the UK importer for Broplan.
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

As an addendum to the Ju87B that I swapped with Nick the Aeroplane Driver I just won two (rare) decal sheets off eBay; one a CAM sheet that I've NEVER seen before and one Eagle Strike which I've only ever seen in an on-line catalogue.

Also

An Academy 1:48 MiG 29A for just £7.50 ($15.00 US) including postage  - Now that is going to be Whiffed !

I almost forgot.  One of the vendors at the Nats gave me an empty box.  The gentleman buys up collections and then sells the contents piecemeal.  He had a big lot of vintage Hawk models.  I saw a Swift in the lot and grabbed the box.  It proved to be empty.  I asked the vendor, and he told me that he doesn't inspect the things he buys, so he didn't know.  As a consolation, he gave me the box.  He did say that he might have one back in the shop in NJ, and that he'd honor the con price if I contacted him.  The con price was $4 or 5, so it might be worth it.

Picked up the Airfix/MPM Pucara at Camberley this afternoon along with another bottle of accelerater and a couple more fine brushes. Was sorely tempted to get the JB Models/Airfix 105mm Light Gun as well, but I passed on it.

An LHS near me is selling them off for £3.62 each on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/JB-Models-1-76-105mm-Light-Gun-L118-M119-OFFER-2-in-box_W0QQitemZ160270680695QQihZ006QQcategoryZ1189QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262

If that's still too much for you and you only want one gun then I'll go halves on one with you and split it: the kit contains two guns.

Hobbycraft Su-17 off evilbay, mainly to see if the swing wings will fit on another project.

Now here's a very curious thing:

The kit clearly builds a two-seater "-17U" in another boxing because it has a 2-place cockpit tub, two fuselage cut-outs, and a separate spine. The spine is on a small auxilliary sprue, which seems logical. However, also on that sprue are:

A: 2 x AA-2 Atolls plus rails (which you'd think were generic to all versions)

B: Four pieces, unlisted on the instructions, which seem to make up a small, drum-shaped turret with a 3-barrelled Gatling gun in it!!!!!!

The ONLY thing I can think of with such a turret is a USMC Sea Cobra, so the question is: why on Earth would you, under any circumstances, put minor parts for an American gunship helicopter on the same sprue as the spine of a Russian jet fighter?

(Not that I'm even slightly upset to get a free extra turret, you understand.....)

I'm baffled - I have both Hobbycraft Fitters, but they're boxed as the "Su-22 Fitter-F" and the (extremely inaccurate) "Su-22U Fitter-E", not the Su-17. Also, there is no common fuselage or separate spine as the kits each have their own fuselage moulding.

I can't lay my hands on my Bilek/Italeri kits and a quick look at my Smer (ex-Pantera?) Su-22 failed to turn up the turret parts, but could they be intended to fit into the front of an underwing gunpod - the Russians do have gunpods where the guns are flexible, not fixed?

Sorry, my bad: it's Mastercraft, not Hobbycraft. This one: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=280251112262&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=018

As far as I know, the Russians don't have a three-barrelled gatling, and neither of the flexible gunpods I know about have a turret as such.

Another Airfix Mosquito from ebay!

Couldn't you just save yourself a lot of trouble by putting a cover-all post up that says "EVERY Mosquito on Ebay"?  ;D

From ebay: two-and-a-bit accessory sprues from Airfix Hawks, for the princely sum of £0.30 (plus £1-odd postage ). Since I've already picked up two more Hawks in a job lot, this means that I am now replete with Matra pods, bombs and ADEN gunpods.......

Several packages today via the ebay fairy:

Box 1.
1/72 Italeri F-100D
1/72 Italeri F-100F

Box 2
1/48 Monogram AV-8B
1/48 Monogram F-14A
1/72 Monogram F-15E

All 5 unopened.

Box 3
1/48 Monogram F-15C
1/48 Monogram F-18C-this last one is a little annoying since the seller cut the box up so it could be squashed down and taped back together to make the two kits fit in the Coke 12-pack bos he shipped them in.  I haven't had a chance to check the kit yet to see if anything is damaged.
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Have you told Lance you plan on putting him into space  ;D

Probably need to reinforce the suspension
