As an aside to this thread, can anyone else remember quite a few years ago, talking 70's I think, someone made a full size carbon fibre shell of a transit van and mounted it on an F1 chassis.  They found when they ran it, that it was only a few mph slower than the F1 car as normal, which surprised quite a few people.  I think it appeared on Tomorrow's World or something like that.

As far as I know, there were 3 of those: the Supervan 1 (1971) was based on a Ford GT40, and Supervan 2 (1984) and 3 (1985) were based on a Group C racer. The last had an F1-derived engine, which was later replaced with a less manic unit. This one still exists.

Airfix 1/72 707 (actually E-3D but missing all the AWACS parts which I didn't need anyway) and a Yak-9UTI from some nameless company from HoE.

... was being a good boy at the Glasgow model show on Saturday so just picked up Gloster Gauntlet (i intend doing it as the currently flying re'engined one) and resin Gnat F.1 from Allistair (i can report that Mistress Mannerhiem aquired a Hasegawa F.18 proto and a Special Hobby Buffalo tho!)

......a trip to the local model store yielded the new Academy F.16C kit...waw...truly a beautiful set of mouldings which look to be scaled down from their 32 scale kit, v v recommended (and this comoing from someone whos not into the 'electric jet')

as well as having unused parts on the sprue for the extended brake chute fairing, the kit includes beautifully moulded, AIM.9X, AGM.88, various designator and ecm. pods, JDAM. (the fins are almost photo etch thin on these!) etc. as well as the current towed decoy system pylons too. The decal sheet is also a dream covering 5 different US examples and literally hundreds of stencils!

ill admit my main reason for purchasing same was the inclusion of the '9X's and AAQ.14 LANTIRN pod (the latter being made up of 6 pieces for somat measuring less than 1'') both of which ill do some tinkering with before moulding for inclusion on an updated F.18C im currently working on (with SLAM-ER missiles coming from the Italeri F.18E kits)

cheers, Joe

Must have been the first one then Hobbes, it was before I moved to Canada in 1980.  I don't remember the other two at all.  Thanks for the additional info

There are diecast models available of all three, would make a nice little collection:

I do remember hearing that part of the reason for the Trannies popularity with armed blaggers in the 60's & 70's was it's high speed, along with the fact you could fill it full of swag.  It was the first van (in the UK at least) to be designed with a decent performance when laden, so it's unladen performance was better than a good majority of contemporary cars.  The rozzers then got their own, with the transit not only being deployed as bobby bus, but also for pursuit.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Yep SuperVan 1, that's the one I remember.  Nice link Simon

Errrr....just a thought, why not do a "White Sky-Caravan"? Sounds sort of Top-Gearesque!

Caravan with wing and tail, for overseas caravan holidays....

My scout group does a market every once a year, where we sell merchandise we gather. It has become one of the largest markets of its type over the last 3 years, in this part of the region.

I found, while preparing the market for tomorrow a bunch of boxes with some Warhammer 40.000. Space Marines mostly, but also some humans and orks...

A surprise!   Lindberg's OA-9 Goose.   With all its shape issues, it's perfect for whiffing.

Two packages arrived today.

From the ebay fairy:

1/72 Italeri Mig-37 Ferret
1/72 Italeri X-35
1/72 Italeri RAH-66 Comanche
1/72 Airfix Javelin FAW.9

From Squadron:

2 x 1/72 Italeri Rafale M (on sale $4.99 this month)
Eduard 1/72 Eduard TSR.2 Zoom Cockpit PE set
ProModeller 1/72 Formation Light decals
Fighting Colors Hawker Hunter book

Unfortunately the Squadron order was packed very tightly into a box that was too small.  One of the Rafale boxes was crushed and the upper fuselage cracked.
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Eduard's Dual Combo Dr.1 set and a Bristol Fighter arrived yesterday too.    Again, none of these will be box stock or JMN reviewable.
