From Commandant of the Armor GB, Jon:

Build runs January 20th thru May 24th, 2008

1. Subject - any scale, must be a 'What-If', visibly armored and primarily a ground vehicle of any era ... from the pre-Stone Age to the Far Flung Future. For the purposes of this build large terrestrial animals are considered vehicles, as long as they have armoring and armament that is not part of their natural form.

2. Wheels, tracks, skis, legs or hover - skirts, blowers or anti-grav, it makes no difference. WIG is allowed for long-range cross-water transit on large machines, as are 'hoppers' , 'flying jeeps' and 'glider tanks'. However, these are the only 'flying' vehicles allowed.

3. Amphibious vehicles are encouraged and don't forget about the SPs and APCs.

4. Monster Tanks and Land Battleships, yeah Baby.

5. Prizes: A six-month subscription to Military In Scale, Academy 1/25th scale Jagdpanther, "Modern Land Combat" by Miller & Foss

As usual there is no limitation on the number of entires per modeler and the posting of in-progress photos is encouraged.

I will be creating a reference topic in which I will post some old oddball stuff from 'The Fighting Tanks Since 1916' by Jones, Rarey and Icks, 1933, The National Service Publishing Company.

The Secret Projects forum has some good stuff in the Army Secret Projects thread:

Please contact me with any questions or suggestions.

Now get out there and reform the battlefield.

Cheers,
Jon

You mention hover...

Would a LCAC reconfigured for more...aggressive operations...qualify?

If so, I may have something I can actually complete this run around.  ;)

Something like the "Seafighters" from James H. Cobb's novel of that name?

Sure, as long as it has armor.

Jon... who accidentally hit modify instead of quote the first time around. I'll have to get used to my new powers.

A quick note on my definition of armor:
anything intended to prevent or mitigate damage caused by an attack by any physical means on the protected object, thing or organism. Lasers and particle beams are included as physical means of attack under this definition, EMP and microwaves are not, simply because protection against those types of energy weapon is not generally visible.

Armor can be of any material:
layered cloth, wood, hay bales, leather, metal plate, railroad irons, plastics, composites etc., if you can think of it - you can use it. :dalek:

Cheers, Jon

The Saracen is an armored ground vehicle, the Faun would count as long as it was armored.
Unmodified softskins are not included in this build.
