No M88's in 72nd unless you can find something in resin.

ROCO does make them in 1/87th if you want to go that small.

Ok, this thread has bizarrely spun away from my initial intention...

BTW, Blacklion, all your planes would have to get through the AEGIS shield off-shore before any pain could befall the armor on land

Seriously, anyone?  M88A2?  1/72?  Hell, I'd take an M88!  I got my Humblegun to build!

Could you start with the Revell M60A3 as there are no M88s available?

Was hoping you'd do that!  You see, Bloodhound had a very effective home on jam system & the more powerful the ECM, the worse for the target.  That EF-111 is toast!    Not to mention that a single Bloodhound was designed to take out multiple targets, the F-111F is at risk too!  And even if not hit, the second missile is waiting to launch now that the Raven is out of the picture....

BOOM!!! ;D ;D ;D
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

That's actually the way I was leaning.  Eh, oh well, Hercs are mainly boxes on treads anyways (without getting into the guts).

Or maybe a Sheriden able to fire SAMs though it's barrel?  With radar on top?

Greg

One pedantic note guys, its Sheridan as in General Philip H. Sheridan the Chief of Cavalry, Army of the Potomac under U.S. Grant.

Oooohh, that might cause some problems!!!  The uprated Scimitar should just be able to take care of the HARM's with it's RARDEN Cannon & SAMS.

Cromwell have a 1/76 resin M88 listed http://www.xs4all.nl/~cromwell/ although, knowing their general level of speed of delivery, this GB may have finished by the time you get one...

if you're looking for anything else, 1/72-1/76 armour-wise, then http://www.tracks-n-troops.com/shop/ is a very good place to start

Airpower only wins in an environment without a suitable SAM network.  Couple PAC-3's, AEGIS off shore... nope, nothing's getting within a couple hundred klicks of the armor GB!

And you guys have hit on my secret entry:  an M8, the projected replacement for the M551, but never funded.

There's some background why I'm doing it, but I'll share that when (and if) I get it built.

Oooh, F-117's that can be seen on radar.

Drop it, Blacklion.  Airpower does not always win the day.

I'll probably either do the Thunderbolt version of the M8, or one of the Turkish variants.  Lots of sheet styrene's going to die for this project.

The Tornado streaks towards the armour formation at over 1/4 mile per second, its TFR maintaining an altitude of 50 feet above the rolling countryside.  Two miles from the formation the Tornado pilot takes control of his aircraft, pulling on the stick to initiate a 3g pullup to 300 feet.  At the top of the climb the single 9-foot long, dark green bomb releases from the left centerline bomb rack.  As the bomb conmtinues on a ballistic flightpath, its retarding parachute deploys.  By the time the 'chure is fully deployed and slowing the bomb, the Tornado has descended back to 50 feet, and is exiting the target area on a heading 90 degrees to the ingress.

Five seconds after leaving the Tornado's bomb rack, with the delivery aircraft almost a mile and a half away, retreating at the speed of sound, the bomb's initiator fires.

Within milliseconds the plutonium atoms in the primary split in a chain reaction which releases a cascade of x-rays.

The burst of x-rays compresses the secondary full of deuterium and tritium isotopes.

Fusion.

Two miles away the Tornado crew feel their jet lurch as the shockwave passes them.  They take little satisfaction in their grim duty, knowing that no armour, no matter how well defended could survive the miniature sun rising behind them.

Sorry Anthony, couldnt resist!

cant wait to see your builds though!
So I got that going for me...which is nice....
