You could go the other way and do an Easter GB - that way everyone around the world gets 4 days off to do it?  Well, unless you live in Iran ;)

Or the USA, Good Friday and Easter Monday are not official holidays.

Meh, I'm not big into any of these themes....

Agreed, as a personal observation I think short-term builds work better without an assigned theme.
If a theme is insisted on, then Greg's thought of a generic spring-break theme is the only one that I see as a good possibility.

Well, the late Summer one is a designated free-for-all, while the winter one was suggested as a themed one, since there was a strong minority that arose to make the 1 weeker themed.  Personally, I think it's a great way to play with old theme ideas (3rd World, profiles, etc), without having to campaign to make one of the longer term GB's whatever particular theme tickles one's fancy.

Agreed Comrad Antoly, The theme was suggested by the powers that be to separate this GB from the classic 1WGB. As it stands, I like the idea of a theme as long as it's not very specific, unless otherwise agreed upon by those committed to the build (otherwords, a "Alternative USN Adversary a/c" theme most likely wont fly, while a "DACM A/C" theme would due to the broader aspect of it).

How about a "Group Build" Group Build, with the theme being anything that would fit into a GB idea that never came to fruition?
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Mossie

Just an idea, but ARC have a Silly Week, where they become us for a short while, why don't we have a Ridiculous Week, or Wacked-Out Week, take it a forward by an order of magnitude!  It's a theme, but a very loose one, basically let your imagine run riot, the stipulation being that there is absolutley no chance of your build being recognised for something real-world.  Maybe keep to the one or two week rules, but just go daft?

:o :o :o :o :o
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

AeroplaneDriver

Mossie, I've wondered if we should do something to coincide with ARC Silly Week, but I was thinking a 'JMN Week' where we post our most authentic rivet-counting efforts and let the other members pick out the inaccuracies, however small.

Anyhoo, back to the topic at hand, I think more people would participate if we don't limit the theme too much, but at the same time I think a theme of some sort to differentiate between the High and Honorable One Week Group Build would be good.  Maybe instead of limiting to tropical operators, maybe tropical theaters, where those of us with no appropriate decals for a Jamaican F-111 can do an alternate USAF SEA camo scheme or a nifty jungle camo for the RAF Jags permanently based in Belize after the brief 1983 war...
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Actually, these are all good ideas.  Since this is Shas's baby this time around, it's his call, but whoever wants next year's can decide the theme/non-theme of it.

Well, I'm leaning towards the Third World idea, that seems to be broad enough for everyone (real world countries & "others"). Any thoughts/objections?

Ok gang, switching gears here, right now my Spring Break is Feb 26th - Mar 4th, so I'd like to keep the time frame somewhere around there. Any thoughts on this subject?
