Hey Fellas,

This idea came up between myself, Comrad Antoly & "Spats" DaBasher during a discussion on last year's 1WGB, and the idea was to have another 1 Week type GB earlier in the year for those who just couldnt get in on the first one due to time constraints. Well I talked to our GB Commissar yesterday about this & he thinks it could work, provided you guys want to get behind this thing.

So far not all the particulars have been worked out, but here's what I do know:

  • We're looking at late Feb/early March for the time frame
  • It'll more than likely run 2 wks instead of one (Hey, its Spring Break!)
  • Unlike the 1WGB, this one will have a theme

Now if this puppy gets growing I'll be one of the Mods, but I'd like a volunteer(s) to help co-mod, and I'm open to ideas for the theme (drop me a PM or just reply here).

So, anyone want to give 'er a go?

I remember the chat well, Shas and I think it's a great idea to have a short two-weeker when lots of folks might have the time to join in. One strong suggestion would be to keep the theme as loose as possible to encourage participation.

It'll be great to see you moderate another group build.

Yeah, I'm open to suggestion for the theme (since I cant think at the mo'), but it wont be like some of the ideas I've see elsewhere.

If it's spring break, how about "tropical" air forces of tourist destinations like Puerto Rican ANG, Jamaican AF, Fiji AF, etc.

This sounds very inviting. As fate would have it, I might have the very kits to do a "Tropical" build for the SBGB. ;)

You guys know me, I hardly ever take more than a week to build something, so I'd be up for it.  The tropical thing sounds nice, but I dont know how many of us can scrounge up markings for places like Fiji or Jamaica.
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

You could go the other way and do an Easter GB - that way everyone around the world gets 4 days off to do it?  Well, unless you live in Iran ;)

Who's man enough to do a kit in 4 days? :p

4 days???  That's time for two builds!!

Four days?  I remember when I could do four kits a day!

Now... not so much.

So, you want to make the theme a "Tropical" GB, or do you want to just go hog-wild and make it the "Third World GB" theme, where you take a fictional country (not just a banana republic) and go nuts?

I could go either way, seeing as how the Cuban Republic and the Conch Republic could always use more aircraft.

While the Tropical theme sounds good, for some reason it's not ticklin' my fancy. . . But there could be something w/Tovaritch Antoly's 3rd world idea.

OK, today is the 20th, the floor is open for other suggestions until next Mon (the 28th) @ 0000CST (0600GMT/Z), then we'll vote on the suggestions to pick a winner. Any objections?

Sounds interesting to me. I like the idea of using the theme as just a "spring break"...skiing, surfing, etc. It would open up the floor for alot more creation if we weren't too limited.

I hate to contribute to the continued hijacking of this thread, but I love the idea of Anthony's Made-Up Country GB. I've had an idea for a long time for a country, that I want to build for. Rotaiva.....aviator backwards. I saw a Lincoln in my rear-view mirror.....Jager crest for a roundel. South-eastern Europe in the mountains. Lots of Soviet equipment. Pesky insurgency. The basics.

Shasper

Well I think that would fall under Anthony's suggestion of a "3rd world" GB,

On Another note, taking a hint from Black Lion's thread, what about a *Movie* theme?

Meh, I'm not big into any of these themes....
