I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Do you mean the Sturer Emil 12.8cm heavy panzerjager?

Nope, but it seems I sent ya on an untamed waterfowl pursuit...   :banghead:

Thanks, though!

Seems I saw a Soviet artillery piece, the 2B1 Oka.  It was probably late when I saw it, and didn't pay attention to the details...  it just struck me as something the Germans would have done, so I assumed it was their's...

A tank with a secondary (AA?) turret on top of the main turret, used in the recent Transformers film.  If you remove the second turret, I think the tank is a real world prototype, but if so I couldn't tell you the details.  I'm pretty sure the turret is just a prop as I seem to recall it jumping around pretty wildly in the short screen time it gets!

Whilst the cosmetics on the last vehicle are very Hollywood, I can't help but think that it's a dressed up M-1 Abrams, although I believe there was a Russian MBT that was offered with a twin cannon AA armament.

I remember an artist impression of a Challenger tank with a radar-directed twin 7.62mm MG turret meant for anti-ATGM.

I think that having the secondary turret of the tank in Mossie's picture scaled down a bit and replacing its cannons with 12.7mm Bushmaster MGs would be just a bit more logical......
To the individual soldiers, *everything* is a frontal assault!

According to Wiki, "For Devastator, the crew chose to use an M1 Abrams tank prop built for xXx: State of the Union."

Model of a LAV packing a rail gun.  There's little to give it away externally, just the rectangular barrell.  Internally, the coils take up most of the space.  One for the not too distant future (maybe), current rail guns aren't ready yet & the size of the coils will mean they will only be mounted on warships or permanent land fixings.  As the technology advances, tanks should be possible.

now this seems to be a real project and my point of interest is

"the most interesting feature of the "Rutscher" would be its cleverly chosen main armament- two 80mm Rheinmetall Panzerabwehr-Wurfkanone PAW-600 8H63 high/low pressure guns. These were recoilless cannons according to the high/low pressure principle in which the ignition occurs in a high pressure cylinder. By means of a sophisticated nozzle disk, the ignited gas then streams into a low pressure cylinder. Once a certain pressure is reached, the fin-stabilized shell frees itself from the cartridge and exits the smooth-bore barrel. During firing tests, ranges of 2,000 meters were achieved with a muzzle velocity of 550 mps. "

of which I didn't understand much . Why two barrels ? How does the system work ?

Whilst I haven't got any info in front of me, I'm assuming the loading time for the weapons would be beyond that of normal tank-mounted guns and therefore the two guns would possibly speed up the cyclic rate of the 'weapon' as such.  The way you describe the system sounds similar in operation to the M79 family of 40mm grenade launchers and results in a comparitively light weapon considering its calibre.
