Very simple, build a bomber, whiff it.  BIG aicraft dropping firey death.  Anything goes, but not fighter bombers or multi role aircraft, purely bombers, with the sole purpose to drop bombs or AGM's.  Any era, any platform, any scale, small if you want but BIG is good.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

I really like this idea Mossie as it's general enough to be very inclusive, yet specific enough for a group buiild.

Figures you'd have to mention it after I built my Douglas B-7B Brigand bomber.

Gervasius

Oh yes! I would definetely be in! SAC baby!

Marko
Baldrick: I followed Mr Da Vinci's instructions to the letter.
Blackadder: Even though you can't actually read.
Baldrick: No, but I have done a lot of Airfix models in my time.

count me in also to one or two which ideas which need building or improving
Me, I'm dishonest, and you can always trust a dishonest man to be dishonest.
Honestly, it's the honest ones you have to watch out for!!!

Captain Canada

Good call. I've always thought that Canada should have had some kind of big bomber since we retired the Lanc. Maybe mid-seventies or early eighties.

CANADA KICKS arse !!!!

With regards to restored builds, I guess the same applies as always, it should be something more than just a re-paint & a decal swap, there should be some change to the model itself.  Otherwise, pretty much anything goes, although defining 'bomber' gets slightly difficult after the middle of WWII.

Sounds like a few good ideas already!  Bri, I'm sure you'll have some kind of spatted interwar wonder in mind to compliment your D-7B!  Me???  I'm thinkin' Russian!!!

I'd be interested in this one.  It might be the inspiration I need to do something with my Airfix Vulcan...

Now let me think...

USAF Vietnam-era SAC B-?? in SEA over black camo and bomb bay + pylons loaded with iron bombs..?

RAF upgraded B.4 with new engines, high-viz cockpit glazing, and a load of Paveway IVs or Storm Shadows..?

So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Lee, not sure about how the Brigand fits into this, I'd put it pretty firmly in the Fighter Bomber category.  My intention was for it to be purely a 'strategic bomber' build, but I'm happy for there to be a 'tactical bomber' category run alongside to build interest, maybe with two prizes.  If the strategic bomber build is popular enough on it's own, maybe it could be followed up by a tactical bomber GB running immediately after?

Can i re-engine my B-52 then? And paint it non-whiff? :-P

Another idea would be to simplify things and say anything with multiple engines and more than just a pilot that carries bombs counts.

Thomas, I'd call a re-engined B-52 a whiff even in real world colours so that's a goer.

Bri, it gets difficult doesn't it?  I guess that's about as good a description as possible.  I add that aircraft with weapons bays designed to drop bombs are encouraged, although not a 100% requirement as this would preclude some bombers from the pre-war period.

Lee, with a weapons bay the Highball armed Brigand or Spearfish would fit.  Regarding the Spearfish, how about a single Highball?  I guess your using the paragon conversion, a chop might be doable?

Years ago I saw a spoof photoshoped picture of a stretched B-52, it had a gazillion engines and was dropping the entire US arsenal in one go. I think it may well have been in the tailpiece of Air&Space
I remember that!  It was towards the beginning of the magazine, as an op-ed piece on instead of more expensive, stealthy planes, we build this thing with a monstrously huge RCS that would scare most smaller countries into immediate capitulation should they see a wing of these things inbound on their screens.  The author called it a "B-3," and I think I remember something like four bomb bays, and eighteen or so engines on the thing.
I exist to pi$$ others off!!!
