Hi
One thousand years ago , when I was a kid , I received a present of a Northrop P-61 Black Widow 1/72 kit. The plastic was black and had a yellow spiderweb shaped decals on the starboard wing and tailfins.
I never heard about that kit again and cannot remember the manufacturer.
Could anyone help me identify them?
Is there any colour profile about this paint scheme?

Might it have been the Frog kit?

It may be possible. As per the Richard Lines book the first Frog kit of the P-61 dates from 1965.
I remember that , at that time, plastic was of a very good quality and of the same colour than the airplane:red for the D.H. Comet Racer, yellow for the Percival Proctor IV ...
Thanks for your suggestion.I will do some reseach in that direction.
Sincerely
Justo

The only two older P61 kits I know of are the Airfix and Frog ones. to tell them apart if it had the option of the remote controlled turret on the top its Airfix, if not its the Frog one.

Hope this helps.

The spider web markings you mentioned sound like something you might find in one of those MPC kits that included "Customising parts". I know they did it with a few of the airfix reissues they made.

Ususally, the extra parts included a runner of chromed parts that were not relevant to the kit, Imagine a BAC Lightning coming with a chromed propeller and some chromed WWII era bombs (MPC made it happen!). There would also be some crazy decals that resembled nothing from reality.

I'm not sure if MPC ever did the "Customising parts" thing with any reissue of the Airfix P-61 they put out though.

That is very useful to me.
Mine did not have a turret. It must be the frog one.

Thanks for your suggestion.I will investigate that possibility.

Just to add a note to the above, it does sound very much like something that MPC would have done (I've got this SR.53 that was re-box by them that has some really crazy decals) , but it's my understanding that MPC only re-boxed Airfix kits which would nulify the kit being an old Frog kit.  UPC used to re-box Frog kits among other manufacturers stuff but I've not heard of UPC making odd decals and other changes like chrome bits.  I've asked a couple of people I know if they might be able to shed some light on this.
