How about a Jet powered Thunderbolt?

Like this one maybe? Real project from Republic, resin conversion kit available from Sharkit:

The bibliographic source where I found, illustrated, this jet-Thunderbolt is the book "the Thunder factory".

How about a P-47 turret fighter - a Defunderbolt.
You might have to lose the turbo to fit the turret.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Not a massive change, but how about a recon variant? Similar to the F-6 Mustang? It could be used on more hostile fronts as they are more durable than the Mustangs.

See the RF-47N on the recce and surveillance GB.  Also consider the P-47 turbocharger layout - where could a useful camera suite be fitted?

The same place they put the cameras in the recce versions of the P-43 Lancer, in the aft fuselage. The P-43 also had a belly turbosupercharger, in many ways the P-47 is an enlarged P-43.
;)
Note the square port forward of the Turbo and the oblique camera blisters
either side of the aft fuselage.

QuoteEight P-43s (four P-43A-1s and four P-43Ds) were loaned to the Royal Australian Air Force in 1942 and served with No. 1 Photo Reconnaissance Unit. The RAAF flew many long range, high-altitude photo reconnaissance missions before the six survivors were returned to the USAAF in 1943.

Above is a quote from Wiki, this entry from Aeropedia gives more details on RAAF P-43s which were numbered A56-1 through A56-8:

At least the turbo would keep the cameras nice and warm.  ;)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Cheers,
Small questions: has anyone mooted the P-47 with the turbo-compound V-1710, perhaps in a scenario where jet engine technology lags some 3-5 years behind it was historically the case? Outwardly it should've looked like the P-47H? The turbo-compound V-1710 was supposed to make 3000 HP max power.

Or have a far better understanding of jet flows early on! Put an exhaust very like Wywern's on BOTH sides of a 47N, with the entire bombload of a Skyraider, the required Vietnam type paintcover with metal plates extending backwards from your jet exhausts. Paint it as burnt metal because of the heat. Only because l can't imagine how to depict blown flaps in model scale, have a secondary set of exhausts on the spine which might open up as some sort of an airbrake, for the ground running where the runway should be protected. If the result seems passable, you can always build a second. This in time in A-10 gray suitable for the 1970 with an Harrier type exhaust, far larger than the original, firmly fixed in place as a defence against newly introduced SA-7s. Which might require a larger nose intake. In any case you would have to have Corsair like wingroot coolers because of the fact that your jet needs more air than passes through R-2800. Requiring the entire bottom of the cowl as an intake.  Maybe even a spinner, too, but l wouldn't myself.
