Hog In Spatz?

Hi All
Been looking here with interest and I thought it was all bipes.  Then I saw the TieFighter in a Spat Fight I thought I might have a go at this. I knew I had an old Imai Thunderbird 2 half built (takeing out clockwork motor and wheels) and a half painted Spectrum passenger jet in the loft and as winters nearly over I could afford to lose a bit of insulation I got the box of kits down.
Incidently the box has been half eaten and I now have a wasps nest in the corner.
Upon opening the box I found this and thought it would make a good subject. Theres no kit box or instructions and it dates to the age when Revell moulded markings on the plastic and I didn`t know where it came from so seemed an ideal candidate. I haven`t counted but it looks to be of around 25 bits and all there but fits where it almost touches.
So settling down with a cup off coffee and the glue open, off I went with the headphones on 11 and the Led Zepp collection on random play.
A few hours later I decided it was time for more coffee, stood up not realizing I had the Headgoggles wire under my feet and went from Loud Zepp to Marcel Marceau`s version of the Sound of Silence in an instant. I now have the newest pair of wireless headphones in my street.  Anyway I`ve gotten this far with the  build and looking for something for the front spat.

I don`t know much about 1st generation jets but why did something that looks so fast not. As to the nose I can only guess that the designers exaggerated the performance so much that it grew like Pinnochio`s, or that they didn`t know so much about the sound barrier that they were hoping that if the nose sneaked through they might cheat the rest in without anyone noticing.
All comments, advice, invites, bills for damages, etc declined but read with amusement.

Incidently if your wondering about the headphones see Aircans in the `Current & Finished` bit

Heh, heh, well I hope the build goes well since it's like a Seinfeld episode so far, the way you describe events (I like it).

Cheers Baz,

I`m glad you find my lifestyle so amusing ;D
Been up in the loft again and you ought to see what them little buzz/ggers have done to my decal collection.
That Noah bloke has a lot to answer for!. I know God said 2 x 2 but just think of the picnics he`s ruined :o
Anyway as it`s so cold they`re either dead or dormant and the nest is in a sack waiting for the next garden bonfire.

ps Members of the London Wasp Liberation Front, you`ll probably be to late by the time I get your message so please don`t bother

But here in the UK we normally just drown them in a jam and water mix. :o

I'm not a wasp, so you won't get any grief from me.  Now hornets...

HOG, my hat's off to your for your creativity! I think you may have the first jet-powered entry of this group build. This one has speed written all over it!

Oh and the sacrifice of your headphones was not in vain.

Hi All
Not done much as been playing with the hover tankette, but first

"I'm not a wasp, so you won't get any grief from me.  Now hornets..."
It`s ok, F18`s get painted with jam n water too ;D

Can`t find much to alter with this build. I`ve angled down the tailplanes, changed it to a single burner at the back, but it`s that nose. Not only do I keep clipping everything with it, and catching it on me shirt when I`m working on it, it`s just so long. It reminds me of Concorde so I thought droop snoot then I thought lets go the whole hog but realised theres only a few days left and I`ve probably saved meself a whole heap of work and decided to leave as is.

Going the whole hog (?would that still count as a spat?)

Mods to original

Time to start thinking paint job and undecided at present but am considering the following:-
German Starfighter lookie likie
Race Plane  (it wins by a nose)
Old time barnstormer 1920s/30s
Luft 46
Acrobatic team

And what role does it fullfill. The only thing I keep coming back to is a Zepplin rammer! ;D
it`s the thought off a dirigible whizzing around like a balloon
Oh well back to the doodle board,
regards all

I like the "Race Plane - It Wins by a Nose". That's one of the funniest things I've heard all day!

The barnstormer look would be interesting too.
