Dork the kit slayer

Martin will have most of the details on this...

This is the first in a series of pics featuring a very rare "Frog" "Attackers series" kit that was passed to Martin at the Bolton show.

It features a box/building tray with a dtails booklet and cutaway (very similar to the old "Eagle" center spreads)
The box included the old lead weights that were a speciality of the older Frog kits, alas the main wing pieces were not included. I suppose parts from the Novo release would work but it will take a lot of the value of this for a pue collector.

Anyway heres the first pics

Now the guys who didnt see this at the stand before we hid it away can see what all the fuss was about.

Me, I'm dishonest, and you can always trust a dishonest man to be dishonest.
Honestly, it's the honest ones you have to watch out for!!!

Haha, I saw it on the cutting mat and for a minute I thought I was going to see a Dork-completed-Frog-Gannet in RCN markings!

Sales of Airfix kits plummeted in the 1980s, and GCSEs had to be made easier as a result - James May

an old boy travelled all the way from the midlands to the Bolton show just to hand over a box of kits for operation Magpie. He is in his late 70's and decided to reduce his small stash of kits as he reconed 200 was way to many to have at his age. the Gannet was one of them. When we realised just what he had given us, my self and Geoff P hunted him down and offered to return it as it was surly worth more for him to sell off than donate, but he was adament that we have it as it was going to a good cause, and that we should use it as we saw fit, so long as the end result goes to combat stress.
And he's threatning to bring even more over for the collection at Milton keyens this weekend.
I always hope for the best.

Maybe the missing wings are in one of the older gent's other kits.

That is just..... wow.  I love these old drawings & such, like you say Dork, brings back memories of Eagle!

If you can't find the wings, Frog Gannets aren't to hard to get hold of & unless something is different about this kit, you could swap the kits other.  I'd need to be whole kit as any slight colour difference in the sprue would show it had come from two different batches.  AFAIK, it isn't dodgy to do this either, old kits are often reunited with other boxes.  Just make sure it's of the same vintage & a Frog original,  not a re-pop.  Like I say, I don't think it's a dodgy practice, but if anyone knows better, please feel free to correct me!

There might be some merit in going to a dedicated toy dealer or auctioneer, rather than ebay, especially if the Gent has the whole collection, or at least a large part of it.  Hats off to this guy, that is a very genorous contribution.  We need that salute smiley back!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

It may be a prudent move for the members to have a whip round for this gentleman, even as a token gesture or treat him to something even if it is only lunch, any thoughts.

All

Seeing the Gannet of Martins and especially its ID number reminded me that I may have had an example of this kit in one of my scrapyards. Having had a rumage through a couple of boxes I have found one and it is indeed a built example of this paricular Gannet but requires some restoration as do a few of the kits in my scapyards. sorry about the quality of the pics my camera is not that great at close up model shots.
