I've briefly shown this one before but have done a revamp using the newer Third Wire MiG-15 and downgraded it to the initial MiG-15 instead of the 'bis'.

A lovely USAAF A-25A Shrike skin for the SB2C Helldiver was released today and with not a lot of time on my hands I thought I'd 'lend-lease' it.

I was lucky enough to have been given a template for the Firefly V recently and thought I'd do an IDF machine. I'm not too sure if the radar would show up ground targets though!

The 'Fighting Irish' decal was done as a request (for something else) so I'd show it here on the very nice Third Wire Aussie Mirage IIIO. It's not quite my cup of tea but the Mirage certainly is . I've previously done the Mirage IIIC in Irish Air Corps markings (search either Irish or Guiness within this thread).

The Spanish Civil War is not something I know too much about so I thought I'd better make a start as it could be a good topic to dip into and revisit and has a LOT of potential. In the real world, the Spanish Civil War is quite well covered in Strike Fighters by the 'SFP1 Dev A-Team' group of modders including an all-inclusive install for the original Strike Fighters Project 1 which is where the series began back 'at the turn of the century' - lol. Anyway, this Spanish Republican Spitfire uses the stock Soviet skin with a purple spinner (a colour synonymous with the Castilla y León region) and banded Republican markings plus a 'Valladolid' squadron marking on the nose. I'll leave it up to the reader to explain why the Spanish Civil War had continued or, perhaps, re-ignited after WW2...

I like this one myself! The Avia S-99 and Avia S-199 'Mule' are 'AI' types and I'm developing a bit of a soft spot for the much-maligned latter. My gut-feeling, based on those rakish early Bf-109's, was to put it into Condor Legion service but as it emanates from a country under Soviet influence I've placed it into Republican hands and allocated it to a fictional 'Madrid' squadron.

This is the stock Vautour 'silver' skin but with the settings screwed down to make it more like a grey and with the most common Nationalist roundels (I had no idea there were so many variations) and the St. Andrews cross on the rudder plus a simple bomb symbol and spurious codes to jazz it up a bit.

The 'band' markings are a bit problematic on this aircraft as I don't know the mesh names for the variety of parts that they run across so I've switched to Republican roundels but with a fuselage band as well. It's not perfect but I'm on a real deadline tonight so it'll just have to do . Anyway, I'm parking up the SCW theme for a short while and will be switching to a slightly colder climate.

Some time ago TSR Joe floated a suggestion for a 'what if' Communist Finland and at least two 'roundel' designs were discussed, one being the Finnish roundel with the red star superimposed and another with the Finnish roundel at the centre of the red star. The problem with the first idea is that the red star totally covers the inner white circle so after tinkering around with it I simply brought that white circle on top and I think it works well, especially with a black border for use on NMF MiG's... or Sukhoi's . Perhaps tomorrow, I'll show the other type. BTW after the 'Kommunists' took over I think they would have adopted standard Soviet 'bort' numbers but this has nothing to do with making life easier for me  ;).

This is one of the in-built what if's in 'Strike Fighters' as the Lightning F.3 incorrectly includes the RAFG Green/Silver scheme (not that you'll hear me complaining ) and a simple edit (about as much typing as you see in this single sentence) allows you to fly a Soviet Lightning! Mind you, you'll soon get bored of being shot down by RAF Phantom FGR.2's...

ANT-34 - Soviet Air Force, June 1941

Designed by Andrei Nikolayevich Tupolev the ANT-34 was an advanced twin-engined monoplane bomber first flown in July 1933. Development was slow however and it did not enter service until November 1937 by which time it's designer had become a victim of Stalin's purges and was arrested on false claims of sabotage, espionage and supporting the Russian Fascist Party. Production was slowed to a trickle and, with initial deliveries being sent to the Spanish Republican Air Force, only 120 ANT-34's were in front-line service at the start of the German invasion of the Soviet Union in June 1941 where they became easy prey for Luftwaffe fighters.

This is the Martin B-10 released by the DAT group of modders and I've used their Netherlands East Indies skin to make a pretty easy Soviet ANT-34. Apparently the real ANT-34 was an unbuilt multi-seat fighter project but I've pinched it for this pre-war Soviet bomber.
