Can't think why I haven't thought of 'V-Bomber' Aussie markings before!

The XB-70 was released as a 'beta' recently and it is awesome. Now I'm not a fan of the larger aircraft in Strike Fighters (TSR.2/Vigilante is about the upper limit IMHO) but this is exceptional - it even includes a sonic boom effect as you slip past Mach One! The team who have created it have initially released the XB-70 and will progress on to operational variants so I'll revisit this in the future and you just know that No.617 squadron will be covered don't you?!

The SEA Camo is a nice find at Combat Ace (good work 331KillerBee) whilst the Air Defence 'Bleu' is by me and is a simple tinted version of the stock silver skin. I've never really raved about 'The Deuce' but it was an important type and looks cool at certain angles whereas the 'Six' was a stunner from every angle!

A really nice single-seat Hawk 200 has been available for a while and it's a little gem. As the next RAF squadron on my decal upgrade programme is No.16 I thought I'd try them on a Desert Pink Hawk FG.2 operating in Afghanistan.

For BillSlim - best I can manage mate. It really needs a radar now! I managed to 'lift' some of the panel lines from the original Aussie grey camo skin and placed them onto a new grey skin with some blur added to the panel lines and some 'noise' added to the grey skin. It's nowhere near perfect but gives an impression of what a Hawk 127 would look like in RAF service.

BAC Lightning F.1B - No.74 Squadron, RAF Middle East Command, 1969

In early 1966 and with Lightning F.6 production in full swing the RAF asked BAC to bring the remaining F.1 and F.1A aircraft up to a F.6 standards in a similar way that the F.2's were converted to F.2A's. Entering service in late 1967 the F.1B's served with No.56 and No.74 squadrons and were deployed to Saudi Arabia during the 1969 Kuwait Crisis.

BAC Lightning F.Mk.54's - MFG1 & MFG2, Marineflieger, West German Bundesmarine, 1970

The first rumours of an alleged bribery scandal surrounding the purchase of the Lockheed F-104G Starfighter by the West German Government coincided with the ferociously high attrition rate of the Starfighter in Luftwaffe and Marineflieger service. With the end of Lightning production on the near horizon BAC submitted a brochure to the Bonn Government and Marineflieger Officials for a proposed multi-role Lightning based on the F.53 and this proposal was accepted leading to a modest production order for 60 Lightning F.54's which entered service in late 1968 with MFG1 and MFG2 before being retired in 1987.

BAC Lightning FG.7 - No.17 Squadron, RAF Strike Command, 1969

When BAC were finally allowed to develop the Lightning for multi-role use the 'export' F.53 suddenly became of interest to the RAF who felt they needed a supersonic tactical fighter-bomber resulting in modest orders for the Lightning FG.7 which entered service in 1969 but crucially allowed the production line to remain open into the early 1970's and pave the way for the later Rolls-Royce Sequanna RB.400 series turbofan powered F.8 interceptor version.

Perhaps the ferry tanks could have been made suitable for combat (albeit non-jettisonable).
