For my first attempt at English Air Force markings I've gone for a Red Lion in the centre of a red and white roundel but I'm not too happy with it though and not just because it reminds of Middlesbrough FC! I'm willing to try the 'English' rose but it needs to be a simple rose shape and not a complex design like the 'Tudor Rose' emblem. Ideally, it should be one colour like the Aussie Roo or the Kiwi, er, Kiwi but a single colour rose might not be recognisable.

My final English Air Force 'what if' with Crusade-ish national insignia - probably my favourite of the three. With St. George's Day coming up next month I'll revisit this theme. BTW the Lightning F.1B was a version of the Lightning issued to the former Javelin night-fighter squadrons.

Positively, the final 'English Air Force' what if from me until April 23rd and I thought I'd try a lo-viz version of the previous insignia. I'm aware that my Typhoon lacks it's customary fuel tanks and needs more modern missiles but my install doesn't have them at the moment (I'm more of a last century man  ;)).

This fictional aircraft was created by a Portugese 3D modeller named Cocas from a sketch by Bagera3005 although I'm not too sure if it is based on a real drawing board design. Anyway, it's a cracking little aircraft and I've substituted the excellent German skins that came with it for my Euro Splinter skin and some basic USAF markings.

I have no templates for the Third Wire F-8's so have used the F-8J by "The Mirage Factory" but, personally, I think the classic French F-8EN scheme would look better.

I've been asked to release my Irish Hunters but have decided to use the Dutch F6 version as the Thirdwire 3D model has missile rails built in to it and I wanted to use Firestreak and RedTop missiles. Tomorrow night will involve me making 26 serial number decals  yawn.

My latest Irish markings finally cover Ulster, the fourth of the Irish provinces and unique in encompassing two countries as six of the nine counties of Ulster are in Northern Ireland (part of the UK).  Anyway, I've used the colours from the Ulster flag and the 'Red Hand' to form suitable heraldic insignia bars and nose bars. The Danish skin is OK but the green isn't as dark and glossy as the schemes seen on many IAC aircraft. BTW, in game, the Red Top is excellent and consistently brings down Soviet bombers whereas the Sidewinders will sometimes only damage them.

This 'what if' is more of a a 'nearly was' and was suggested by a Dutch friend over at Combat Ace who recently informed me that the Netherlands and Belgium had planned a joint purchase of the F-5A but that the Belgian's had stalled, cooled and eventually bailed out. I've never really liked the F-5 family but will do a few more 'Freedom Fighter Fantasies' in the next few days. Anyway, this is the F-5A with the F-5C Skoshi Tiger skin, stock Mirage 5BA codes and my own Belgian markings with a raked fin flash. Does anyone know whether the blue bordered roundel is used on the undersides? I've assumed so but I'm not too sure.

Only a partial 'what if' as Croatia operate the MiG-21 but this is a USAF Hill type scheme (slightly rough as I don't quite understand how the 3D model is mapped).
