The Iranian F-14A was recently released as a DLC add-on and, apart from the original Iranian Camo scheme, it includes a really nice 'blue' Camo scheme which I've used here with JASDF markings - perhaps as a JASDF Aggressor unit

Grumman F-14H Tomcat - 340 Mira, Hellenic Air Force, 1986

The 1979 Islamic Revolution saw the abrupt cessation of deliveries of the third batch of 60 F-14A fighters intended for Iran leaving Grumman with 44 unwanted Tomcats on their production line. Whilst payment for the aircraft was essentially underwritten by the US Government, Grumman were given permission to offer the aircraft to the export market and duly approached Canada, Israel and the United Kingdom but received only lukewarm interest. However, the Hellenic Air Force expressed strong interest in the aircraft and asked for a downgraded version (essentially without the AIM-54A Phoenix missile) to supplement it's F-4E interceptor force. In January 1980 an order was placed by Greece for 50 Tomcats comprising of 6 additional aircraft tagged onto the 44 Iranian aircraft on the production line and designated F-14H. Details of the deal were not officially disclosed at the time but are now known to have involved substantial offsets associated with the extension of leases on US bases in Greece.

This skin is one of the USN Aggressor skins included in the F-14 skinpack released by Third Wire and I felt that Greek markings would work well with this scheme. I like this one myself!

BAe Brigand FRS.1 - 899 Naval Air Squadron, Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm, 1983

The Aircraft and Shipbuilding Industries Act of 1977 called for the nationalisation and merger of the British Aircraft Corporation, Hawker Siddeley Aviation, Hawker Siddeley Dynamics and Scottish Aviation to form British Aerospace and in a rare moment of support for the British aviation industry the UK Labour Government announced the decision to purchase a multi-role tactical fighter for the RAF and Royal Navy as a boost to the newly-created company.

Originating from the Hawker HS.1202 design studies, the British Aerospace P.162 was a CTOL design in a configuration broadly similar to the F-16 albeit without blended body technology but with the newly fashionable LERX (leading edge root extensions). The P.162 was designed to be powered by the Rolls-Royce Pelenna afterburning turbofan, essentially a scaled Spey, rated at 18,000lbs dry thrust and 27,000lbs with reheat but the first two prototypes used the Pratt & Whitney F100-PW-100 engine as a stop-gap until the Pelenna was ready. Officially named 'Brigand' the P.162 entered service as the Brigand FRS.1 with 899 Naval Air Squadron in 1983.

The Aussie Mirage IIIO is available as a DLC and covers the three versions in RAAF service (IIIOA, IIIOF and IIIOFA) with five different schemes (silver, two camo and two grey). I've just modified the nose radome on the stock early camo skin and added some No.1 squadron markings. As big a fan as I am of the Spey Phantom I can't help feeling that the 'urgent' requirement to replace the Hunter in RAF service could have been easily met by the Mirage in the early 1960's and supplemented by the Harrier in the late 1960's.

Yes, I've gone a bit arty with Picture 2 but there's an insane amount of detail visible on the Sidewinder missile made by a very talented German modder 'Ravenclaw_007' who has pimped out many of the weapons to a similar level of detail. Even better, he is working his way through the F-4 Phantom family and pimping them out too. Anyway, this is the Brigand in overall EDSG and 'B' type markings.

This is Cocas' latest 3D model representing the Supermarine Type 576 - a thin-wing Scimitar development. Between us, we've christened it 'Sora' but it, in service, could be easily have been Scimitar F.2/S.2 or whatever. I'm really busy over the next few days but will try and look at some of the Scimitar F.1 schemes.
