Backstory:

The Indonesian's liked the OV-10's they had.  When they needed a new a/c that could provide shipping and sea lane control around their multitude of small  islands as well as occasion SAR or emergency transport missions, they got NA Rockwell to build some of these.

I did this one a couple years ago.  It was an OV-10A that didn't survive my last move.  So it got used to make a WHIFF version of the OV-10.  The canopy was in pretty bad shape and I didn't feel like taking the time and effort to make a new one, so I just glued the pieces I had and filled in the gaps and gave it a coat of paint.  The floats came from the spares box. the struts are from Evergreen strip and I added a wing mounted radome (ala 40's navy night fighters) and some Sea Skua missiles.

The interesting thing is that a float plane version was in the original OV-10 proposal that North American did back in the 60's, but it never went any further than paper drawings.

We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.

BlackOps

Ed, that Bronco looks too cool sitting way up tall on those floats! I was hoping that fuel tank was a torpedo but it certainly doesn't detract from my opinion of this build :)

Looks great Ed! I think the black canopy gives it a very cool, sinister look. It certainly compliments the camo scheme and Indonesian markings quite well. Nice work!

Oh WOW! I never thoguht a Bronco on floats would look that good. I love it. I'm with Blackops though, I thought it was a torp at first glance. Great work.

Super looking floatie Ed, altho I tend to disagree with most on the centreline.  The tank looks quite right for the role as I couldn't see an OV, especially one burdened by floats lining up for a torp run!! :banghead:

Very nice - be useful for Indonesia too with all their islands.

That's pretty cool!  The original LARA specification included provision for the aircraft to have floats.  I've seen line art of the prototype design with floats, but I'm not sure they ever got as far as trials.  Nicely done!
