After spending most of the past year worrying about the shrinking model selection at my closest LHS (The Great Escape in Spartanburg, SC, which is primarily a bicycle store), I was very happy to stop by today and see lots of new additions on the shelves.  Among the new stuff were new (reissued) Fujimi A6s and E-2s, Mach 2 Skyshark and various X-planes, quite a lot of Trumpeter stuff, and some restocked Italeri, Hase, and Tamiya stuff.

This comes after a similar experience at the HobbyTown USA in Charlotte, NC a few weeks ago.  They had lots of new stuff after a very stagnant period.

It seems like lots of the shops I go to have been steadily shrinking their plastic selection in favor of RC stuff, so it was a nice surprise to have so much new stuff to ogle (didnt buy today though-not enough time to make a decision!).

Has anyone else seen a resurgence lately?  Is the novelty of e-bay, etc. wearing off and sending modelers back to the hobby shops?

So I got that going for me...which is nice....

The Rat

Hard to say, but good to hear! In the Toronto area we are blessed with lots of good local shops, and if you want R/C there's plenty of them too. That's probably because we have the largest Chinese population outside of China, and they are into it big time. So I am one of those hoping that a biggie like Hobby Lobby stays away, don't want to lose all these great little locals!
