I vote to allow all Spitfire variants to be eligible. Testor's has an "Easy Build" kit (Mk. XXI?) in 1/72 that's very cheap and available which is what I'll probably use.

I haven't built a spitfire in years, and no whiffed ones. Count me in.

Brian,
It is supposed to be a Mk 22 (I think).  That is the kit my daughter built as her first model (in the bright pink if you recall the pics).

If its anything like the BF 109 of the line, it probably has huge rivets, undercarriage molded in the "up" position, and no cockpit.

I'd still use it.

Count me in too, please!!
I like the original idea of a GB based on the Mk I (Ia?) but happy to go with the flow.  If the GB end date is going to be just before SMW2008, how much of the What If? stand is likely to be set aside for Spit whiffs (assuming players are going to be encouraged t bring their entries along)

1:72.... no, can't work in that scale on a subject so small - could never mask the canopy framing. I'll build the Dutch one as previously mentioned, but not for the GB.

Regarding the forum GB, Anthony PM'd me to let me know that this proposal will still have to go through the polling process to determine if it gets full GB status.  Said poll is planned for summertime.

Having said that, given the intrest expressed, I think that we should have no problem getting the required votes.

That's OK then.
I'll do a 1/72nd Spit for the "table" and several for the group build possibly, as I've nice and easy 1/48th kits available.

Many years ago at Stafford Club, we had our own "Group Build" where we built the Spit VB in 1/72nd. We all started at one meeting and brought the finished project along to the next. My entry was a high gloss black Belgian one ;D Good fun.

Speaking of Spitfire Group Builds.

The 2007 IPMS-Seattle Spitfire Contest, all 1/72nd Spitfires.
The winner of the popular vote, John Frasier, got to choose the subject for the 2008 build.

The 2008 build is any Albatros aircraft in 1/48th.

Blimey Zac, you're going to bust a blood vessel!

Here's one.  How would you whiff an RAF Spit???  Just about every role the Spit could have been used in, it was, & similar with colour schemes.  Subtle things like sqaudron codes or personal markings are possible, but don't really change the aircraft much.  You can go crazy too, but what about making it believeable?  As far as I know, the only real colour scheme you could put it in that it didn't wear would be the Coastal Command white scheme, but then I wouldn't be suprised if someone came up with a real profile.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.
