OK, there's a terrific thread in General Discussion about potential Spitfire customers

http://www.whatifmodelers.com/index.php/topic,18878.0.html

Although there is some momentum behind it from UK SIG members, there is clearly an intrest from our global membership.

Might I suggest a start date of 04 August, the 70th anniversary of the Spits entry in RAF Service?  That would be good timing as well for the UK SIG members who have an eye on the nats.

So, who's interested?

Start in August.  I might be able to join this one.  I guess I need to start looking for a Spitfire. Most of my stash is jets.

We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.

nice one Nev, count me in

I'll check the differences between a Mark Ib Spitfire and a Vb. If achievable it releases the HobbyBoss kit into the pool of kits, as well as other "Vbs".

So there. ;D

IIRC all you have to do to back date a Vb is remove the cannon bulges on the wings, & make appetures for the machine guns & ejector ports.  The later Mk.V canopies are different to those on the Mk.I too, but earlier Mk.V's are the same.  You can always pick up a vacform canopy from Huddersfield Rad.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Well, I was thinking more along the lines of the GB being open to ALL marks of Spitfire/Seafire.  But of course within that is the idea to do all those proposed export Mk.Is for a SIG display.

Count me in for this, whichever mark(s) of Spitfire you eventually decide on

I'd be in for this - I have quite a few Spitfire whiff ideas.  What would be the overall proposed timeframe though, as I am O/S for most of August?

Probly till mid-November, which is when the UK nationals are.  What does everyone else think?  I'm kinda acting like I'm the mod of this GB already, so apologies if I'm getting a bit "ooooh! 'oo put 'im in charge?"

That works fine for me.  Are we planning on allowing all marks (and variations) in?
