Such whiffery at the Museum of Flight this past weekend

The annual model display at the Museum of Flight this past weekend had over 1900 models on display. There was an entire row devoted to What Ifs: the '1949 Schneider race, Jasta Schweinhimmel, plus Modelfy, which is a special category at the 2008 IPMS Seattle Spring show, the subject being the 72nd scale AN-2. There was also some general whiffery scattered about the row. Jon Farrelly made up some What If  cards which helped promote this site.
The row of tables to the far left is entirely devoted to What Ifs - the first thing everyone saw when walking into the Great Gallery

Not a What If but a spectacular model anyway. Captain Cardboards pod from 2001. For some reason it seemed to draw a lot of attention at the MoF this weekend.

Ok, how many people can say they've displayed their work under a Blackbird?

It makes me feel proud to be a whiffer to see a display of this stunning magnitude! Excellent work gents! Thanks for "flying the flag".

The Northwest Scale Modeler's display at The Museum of Flight has been going on for a long time.
We also have a rotating display in the lobby, they've become so popular that the museum is building a set of permanent display cases for NWSM.

A few shots.
Tim Lawson's USAAF A-10.

Two of Bill Johnson's older Modelfy entries, a pair of sharks made from P-38 booms and 'Freed Willie' a former Airfix Rotodyne.
This years Modelfy is using a 1/72 Antonov An-2.

Not a whiff, but too lovely not to share; John Summerford's 1/32nd Marsh Models DH-88.

Cheers, Jon

One of a few interesting stories about Tim's A-10. Many years ago at a show an older gentleman came up and asked Tim about the A-10. He was a WW II vet and his comment to Tim was something along the lines of: "I thought I knew all the aircraft that participated in the war but I certainly don't remember THAT one". Tim let him off the hook...

And how many of those can say they did so under an A-12?? :)

Even fewer can say that it was under an M-21. ;)

The Museum's aircraft is the sole surviving M-21.

Nice stuff bc, to see a table that large, full of whiffs, is heartwarming!

I'm guessing that Moonbat in pic 2 is this one by Terry Moore, over on the Scale Firebombers.com site.
