One of the most impressive western SAMs ever!

What can we do with it ?

Naval bomarc on cruisers or even carriers (giving something similar to Kirov) ?

Upgraded BOMARC IM-10C in the 70's ?

Hang two of them below a B-58 Hustler and have a long range interceptor ?

Manned Bomarc (first Boeing fighter since the F8B!) ?

Whatif others countries (aside Canada) had the missile ?

King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

It wasn't when we bought it, dithered over putting nuclear warheads on them, and put sandbags in the nosecones so they would fly straight!

Arf, apologize for the canadians. I know this story, feck, killing the Arrow for having that...
But you can't disagree the machine was impressive!

Well just for you, let's imagine that the Arrow entered service with AIM-47s, and, as the Tomcat did in OTL, killed target-drones BOMARCs...  ;D

How would combining the two- Bomarc Parasite Interceptor- sound?  ;D
To the individual soldiers, *everything* is a frontal assault!

The original concept of neutralizing a large force of slow moving bomber aircraft at high altitude with a nuclear warhead was pretty much overcome by the time BOMARC was actually operational.

It might have become a better surface to surface weapon system to replace the Snark, Mace, and Matador cruise missiles since it was much faster.

Crazy, but I like it! Put the pilot in the nose and hang a pair of sidewinder below the wings...

I was thinking a mobile version mounted on a tracked base, but I guess it's a little bit on the big side.

How about a satelite launcher launched from a B-52 or B-47, kind of an early version of Pegasus?  Would need a bulged payload container to take something the size of the original Telstar.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Excellent idea! And pure Boeing of course.
It could be a low cost alternative to the Scout solid rocket, or even a crash program to put Explorer 1 (14 kg, not too much for a satellite!) into orbit after Jupiter, Vanguard and all others boosters actually failed  ;D

I agree that land-mobile variants would be cool, too. Maybe on some big tank carriage, with a microchiped radar in the 70's...

What about something like an Iwo-Jima LPH with some Bomarc to defend iteslf when there's no carrier avalaible ?
Or something like a Long Beach or a South-Carolina nuclear cruiser with BOMARC ?

Weight of the satelite wouldn't be a problem, with the 1000lb warhead & most of the guidance equipment removed you could still get something heavy in there.  That lost weight would help it to get into orbit.   Size on the other hand would be different, even Telstar at only 880mm diameter wouldn't fit without some serious modification.

Got an idea yesterday. Whatif Israel had bought some BOMARCs to use against MiG-25 around 1971 ?

Did Revell re-release the Bomarc kit in the most recent round of re-releases?

I had a look for one on evibay but there's only an original 1950s shot at almost £400!  :o
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Sharkit does a 1/72 resin one with launcher.

It was actually the launcher bit that I was after to support my new Sharkit Navaho which has no stand or landing gear. The real world Navaho launcher  looks similar to the Bomarc one and that's the only kit that I can find that includes such a complex piece of kit. I guess I could scratch the thing but it'd be a lot of work.
