That road is the A1 "great north road" (london-edinburgh) and the RAF station is RAF Whittering (home of the Harrier) been past that old girl on the gate and throu those gates way to many times.
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

Yup and that old Lightning is an F3 and is at Balderton just south of Newark. She's still there taking a battering from vandals and so called 'souvenir hunters' (read thieving gits) There was a call for it to be saved but from what I heard there was a dispute about who owned the aircraft.

Back to modeling. that trike jobbie is sweet. nice one.

All the best.

Thanks Martin (for the correction), and jetfixer.  And quite right, back to Barry' fantastic project.

Okay, back on track with some progress.  I can honestly say these pics don't do the details justice, you can't see any of the silver markings from the Berol Prismacolor pencil in these photos that you can see in person (they change as the subject is turned in the light).  All that shows up in this pics are the painted on paint chips and those left from purposely missing the overcoat of paint for the dented areas.  Oh well, you'll all simply have to come by to have a look in person someday.

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! :o

I think i know a nice idea for a diorama!

Painted in the markings of an ex-soviet state (eastern europe), and parked derelict on an abandoned (and overgrown) ramp, with an in-service machine of same type, being prepared for a sortie alongside.
To make it more interesting, it should be a fictional eastern-european country. How about something from Ace Combat?

Impressive. The finish is looking good.  Glad you decided to take the time to give it a first class paint job and weathering.

Ya Baz, it hardly looks like you put any detail at all on it......

I might recommend you bring the model East for us to look at ?

Baz, I gotta admit it's lookin' great... even if it doesn't have spats. I'm going to have to bookmark this one for sure, since I live vicariously through the forums, not being an active modeler these days. Experiencing this I can say,

Hi Jhm,
I obviously don`t look far enough on this site and only just found this. EXCELLENT in all ways and styles, and really looks the part.  Detail like this should be rewarded.

But a small question, the missing panels look very realisticly done but, there seems to be no way of attaching the originals in place. No lines of miniature riviting holes or locking screw fastners. ;D

.....Over to you

You know, you're right.  I put rivets inside all the panels I engraved (added) but nothing around the ones I removed.
Should there be a little lip around the inside of each aperture?
