Frecking 'eck Barry, what was that you are taking for your flu

That's some seriously amazing detailing  :o
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

Canopy is yellowed with age now.  Been sitting out in some rather harsh conditions for a decade or more.  Even though I kept moving it around while the yellow-tinted Future dried, I see that it sort of pooled a bit so I might yet sand the rippled effect from inside.  Maybe.

I plan on redoing this entire build but as a "pristine" aircraft to show the origins of this derelict one.  For that one, I will recreate the canopy but do a much better job and pull a resin cast from it so I can vacform a clean/undamaged version of the same narrowed F-15 canopy.  But that comes later.

Here is the cockpit.  I was going to remove all the interesting bits (to show they were scavenged) but did it ever look plain/boring in there without the details!

Base metal coat is on.  It's a mixture of gun metal and silver Acryl in order to avoid being too bright.

Nice work on the canopy and metallic paint scheme, Mr Howling Mouse! I'd keep the canopy as is since it perfectly replicates the look those get after sitting outside for decades. I'm just astonished at how well you've been able to pull this off!

Thanks for the encouragement guys.  I'm actually clenching my teeth so much through this build that I started to realize my front teeth are starting to hurt!

I added a few wires to the cockpit.  Small addition but compare it with the pics up there.

The fueltank has also been painted.  Spent way too long on this.   :banghead:

What?  What is this silly fool up to, now?  Doesn't he know this is supposed to be a SPEED-build?

Tiny, tiny bits.  Took five steps just to produce each semicircle anchor. The little disks were punched out using the Waldron set, then dimpled into a shallow conical shape with a pin, to be carefully drilled out (this was the hardest part: trying to hold the little 2.5 mm disks with tweezers while drilling them with a microdrill).

And the result (oh yeah, the whole pylon is scratchbuilt)  :

But there's more: I made FOUR of them!

Right down to the mounting thingamajingies, eh?

Are there really 3 of you?  Or did you borrow that time twister thingy from Harry Potter?  No normal person has time to do all of that.

We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.

It certainly does. Opening panels - good idea. Super detailing the interior - admirable. Building a model of a derelict aircraft - interesting way to individualise a project. But - - -

Doing all this for a fictitious aircraft - ever so slightly mad. Doing all this with a fictitious aircraft in a one week speed build - certifiably insane, reserve the next available padded cell for this man!

And it's too good - you're giving everyone else an inferiority complex!!!

Son of a friggin bi*ch !!!!!  Amazing work.

Yep, it's 12:33 a.m. and I do believe I'm ready for that "completely bonkers" award now.

A bulkhead:

Elevator hinges made from cut up staples:

Wheel well doors actually look better in person (bad lighting):

So, I found out how much fun it is to file down a brass rod to fit a hand-drilled hole in a nosegear strut (the hole was as large as I dared to drill).

The interior bits prior to gluing up the fuselage (bye-bye detail!):

The cowl has been assembled and the fueltank is now affixed to it (little bit of swearing going on during that phase).
