What do I think?

I think you used to be a designer at Myasishchev or Tupolev!  This kind of Soviet inspiration can only come from the source!

Comrades!

Today is a glorious day for the motherland!
Design Bureau SV 494 has just rolled out the latest example of soviet technology! May it strike fear into the cold capitalist hearts of the west!

I'm still waiting for the fireworks that'll go off when Wooksta! sees what you've done to a Hunter.

what would you suggest to make it look more russian ?

Mossie

Larger wing fences would help, possibly several.  Some outboard rods on the tailplanes, also an ECM fairing at the base of the tail.  Plenty of random scoop fairings & bumps never hurt.   I think the intakes need a new shape, that triangular section from the Hunter is a British 50's trademark.

Sounds like a lot bu apart from the intakes, they are all pretty small details.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

I think that it looks fine as it is. It's reminiscent of a smaller, single engined version of Tupolev's Project 132, transonic strike bomber.

However, if you want to add a few typically Soviet characteristics, you might consider the rod-like mass balances found on the ends of the tailplanes (see MiG-19S, MiG-21, MiG Ye-150/152, Su-7, Su-9/11 etc), a bigger fin with a para-brake housing at the base, shaped either like those on the Su-7/9/11 & 15 and interim Mig-21s or the more angular shape of the Mig-21MF/bis, MiG-23 or Tu-22. Swept wing aircraft from the apparent era of your model tended to have wing fences, either large (Mig-19, Su-7, Tu-28) or numerous (MiG-17, Tu-16). Also, aircraft like the Su-9/11, Su-15, Su-17, MiG-19 and MiG-21 had a lot of auxiliary intakes on the mid and rear fuselage.

The cannon blisters are OK as the MiG-15/17 and 21 had these, although not as large as the Hunter's

Soviet aircraft intakes of that era tended to be circular (Tu-16, Sukhoi P-1) or Mirage/F-104 style (Tu-28, MiG-23-01 or 27sh projects) and Tupolev aircraft characteristically had the undercarriage contained in streamlined fairings on the wings. However, if you try to incorporate these features then you'd sort of be losing the point of starting with a Hunter in the first place.

I'll second that, when I bought the KP Mig-19 about 35 years ago I was aghast looking at sprues that held between 3,000 and 4,000 scoops, each about the size of a flea.

Trust me (I'm Russian)----it does look Russian.  Well, Soviet, more precisely.  You're on the right track.  The wing fences and assorted scoops folks mentioned are additional good ideas but the overall feel for it as you've already shown is definitely Soviet.  Oh, and don't forget the Odd Rods...never forget the Odd Rods.

И, в любом случае, это ваша модель!
