What a fun build.

Loved every minute of this. The engine pods required a fair bit of work.....but hey we are modellers. The rest of the build was the modelling equivalent of a nice stroll in the park on lovely spring day.

I did remove the outrageously overscale gun on the nose mounted turret and scratch built something a little more in scale to replace it. I was a little daunted at first by this, because previous effeorts in the past have not ben succesful, but watching Eddie build one on one of his projects inspired me to give it another go. ;D

Funnily enough once I started the whole thing, it was whipped together in about 1/2 hr.

I kept the weathering to min and just used some grey pastels for panel line definition.

This has been a nice diversion after my Foss Ship and something to take my mind from the pain I will endure, building the Grumman Duck /Glenco monstrosity I have to do next. Commission builds take all the fun away from the hobby  >:(

Building this thing did give me inspiration to come up with a concept for a Tau super heavy tank in the Banblade league. It wil have to be a scratch build but I have the basic concept down. This is project for the far far future. :o

It's from Game Workshop. They have table top war game called Warhammer 40K and this from one of the Alien races called the Tau.

It's made from 100% all natural plastic

As far as scale goes I couldn't say but there are poeple still battling to death on the discussion boards settling that very agument. ;D

Any Games Wrokshop shop, war gaming suppliers or some of the big hobby stores should have them

Have a look here Gary.  Click on an army on the left hand side, scroll down & click on 'Fast Attack' or 'Heavy Support' & that should show you their armour options.  The Warhamme 40K Universe has lots of vehicles that you might find interesting.  You can either buy online, or London has several Games Workshop stores.  You can often pick up part-built models at gaming stores for knock down prices.

Another affiliated site that's very much worth browsing through, Forge World.  This has accesorie sets & resin kits that are not normally available through the normal Games Workshop channels.  You can upgrade your own machines with injection accessorie sprues, or spend a small fortune :o on some of their resin kits!  Start with Warhammer 40,000 'Imperial Armour'.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

I wonder where it came from, I've just found another LMS in Red Deer which is closer to where I live now and they have two whole lines of shelving, probably about a hundred feet or so, dedicated to Warhammer stuff.

That's a really crackerjack model there Sisko! It certainly looks the part and any foe that saw this one coming at them would turn their pants brown! Outstanding work!

Sexy Stuff Stuart,

Always loved the WH40K gear and the Tau kit seems amongst the most asthetically pleasing.

As a question, do the drones on either side of the nose come separately or are they moulded into the pylons??

Mav

Don't know anything about the story or background of this beastie, but the model is super.

Ed
We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.

Cheers for the comments.

The drones come seperate and even have their own clear stand to display them so. Don't know much about their role in the game or their capabilities but they do look cool.

The Tau would be next to the Eldar in being the most visually appealing of the 40K races.

From what I've read, the drones are armed with a variety of weapons and perform a scout/recon type role within the game structure.  Good to hear they're separate units, as this gives some scope for dio possiblities.

Sisko, I so envy your painting skills, this is THE perfect paint scheme for the Devilfish!
