I saw on ARC they started a What-if paint scheme thread.  In that thread were some familiar names and faces, but also some new comers to the party.  One of these guys came up with some really top notch Cuban F-16B's.  They can be found here.  Really sharp.  As soon as I saw them, I knew I'd be doing at least one of them, probably more.

For this build, I'm going with the one of the top six (I don't do SEA schemes...  I just... don't...  Don't get me started on greens on airplanes...).  I'm leaning towards the first, third, or fourth.

Anyways, here's some pics of the kit I'm using, and it's current state.

Mmmmm, that would look terrific in a 3-color SEA scheme    :banghead:

You rotten swine! Here I am, up to my buttocks in snow with a cold wind, and you link to a picture of one of my favourite places on Earth, with coconut palms, coral outcroppings, and warm breezes. My wife and I have snorkeled all over the area behind that Viper's front end, and I want to be there NOW!

You think you got it bad in your part of the Tundra, I've been tired of snow since NOVEMBER!!  Seriously, this is the type of winter I remember from when I was a kid, and I loved it then.  Oh, how things have changed...

And how can anyone build anything but a tropical locale for this GB?  Give me steel drums, or give me death!!!  NO!  MORE!  WINTER!!!!

Never been to the Dry Tortugas myself, but exactly ten years ago last week, I spent a week in Fiesta Key, camping in a tent.  I have fond memories of that week...

I think I'm going with the first paint scheme on this build, it looks the most festive to me...  What?

The model's together, and the wheel wells, gear struts, and cockpit have their first coats of paint.  I may just build that Conch Republic build yet!

And it's actually greens and browns... don't get me started on both those colors on the SAME airplane!

Went out and bought the paints I'm going to need for this one.  Decided on the first scheme.  And was so impressed with it, I've decided to do up the Anigrand Lavi I'd had sitting on my bench for months in the same scheme.

Got the thing totally assembled now (save ordinance) and have the first color on (Sand).

Here's the latest pics of my 1-Weeker, plus it's sibling half-yearer.  I'm having issues with the paints I decided to use, only because the Flanker med-blue was not mixed correctly, and it's applying like it's glossy (not semi-gloss or flat), and screwing up the other colors.

I decided to go with a darker blue underside than the original profile called for, only because I'm too lazy to repaint it (the color looked right at the hobby shop).

Overall, fun builds, coming along nicely (other than the lighter blue coat).

Most colourful, and you can barely see them against the bench...perfect camo!

Seriously, nice jets.

Love the paintwork, Anthony! Nice!

Oh yeah, these both stand out nicely from all the grey-on-grey.

Don't get me wrong: I think scale representations of current operational aircraft look far more realistic than those showing the old candycane striped airplanes of old (no matter how well they're done) but it sure is refreshing to see some shades of blue in this GB.

Looking good.  Where did you get the Lavi?  Is it a conversion/scratchbuild or the Anigrand resin kit?

We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.

Shasper

I'm willing to bet thats the Anigrand kit.

Give the man a cigar!  It is indeed the Anigrand Lavi.  The funny thing is after getting the Lavi, and comparing it to an F-16, that if you were to do a conversion kit, very little of the F-16 could actually be used.  I can see the similarities, but there's just waaaaay too much that'd be thrown away.

No progress tonight, been working on computers.
