As passed down from while speaking to the Burning Brian on Mt. Private Messages...  he should really not mix cooking over an open flame and airbrushing...

1. Eligible entries must be comprised of at least 50% spare parts or scratchbuilt components. For pruposes of this GB spare parts are defined as parts from dis-similar kits. Of course, you can feel free to ransack your spares box for material.

2. You're required to post pics of the parts you're using in your build thread for your entry to be eligible. We'll allow a little wiggle-room if all the parts in your pic aren't used or if you substitute a few parts as all plans are apt to go a bit astray.

3. All entries must be a What-If.

4. You may "recycle" parts from previously built models for your entry.

5. There is no Rule #5

6. Sharing spare parts or partial kits between participants is ok.

7. The winner will be determined by votes cast by all forum members. The winner to receive a prize. There may be 2nd and 3rd place prizes awarded depending on particpation.

8. The decision of the GB moderator on eligibility questions is final.

9. Have fun!

Looks like fun.  I plan to join in.  But I won't be able to get started for at least a week.  Then I'll rumage through the parts bin and see what I can come up with.

We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.

Comrade Commisar Anatoly has the gratitude and praise of the Peoples' Styrene Recycling Committee for posting the rules and brining this fine example of Group Building into the light of day to scare the money-changers of the running-dog west! A tanker of vodka to him for his ceaseless efforts on behalf of the great group-building people!

Hi Brian,

Havn`t got much left in the way of bits as I gave them away but I`ve got some built stuff that I`m feed up with as below. Would this be allowed?

According to Rule #4: You may "recycle" parts from previously built models for your entry.

So yes, definitely!

Just remember Rule #2: You're required to post pics of the parts you're using in your build thread for your entry to be eligible. We'll allow a little wiggle-room if all the parts in your pic aren't used or if you substitute a few parts as all plans are apt to go a bit astray.

This is so people can shake their heads and go "How in the heck did he get such a cool model from that?!"

I'm really looking forward to seeing what you come up with and thanks again for all those spares!

For me this GB is what modelling (not just whiffing ) should be all about - a bit of imagination, a bit of innovation, unleashing hidden flair, going back to basics and having a lot of fun.  What's the chance of it becoming an annual GB?   ;D ;D

I'd enjoy it if this GB was an annual affair, but of course, I'm a little biased.

Still, if we got enough like-thinking members together it could happen!

...my whole stash of some 1500 un-built models **IS** my "parts junkyard" and I treat it as such. Also, the way my creativity works, there is a basic concept, some parts are DEFINITELY going into the model, and then LOTS of ad-hoc changes occur as the model develops. I truly believe that I have NEVER had the final parts assembled beforehand.

But, that doesn't mean I can't ENJOY the works of others and/or just post pics of crazy conglomerations I've done!

I couldn't agree more, Sequoiaranger! I'll look for you at the meetings...

That Vee-tailed, Bf-109 Jet--is the nose from a HP Hampden, or the Yak 17/19?

Love the bizarre look and "Wilde Sau" markings. Wouldn't want THAT sneaking up on me at night!

Gentlemen, put your styrene down please. The deadline for entries has passed.

Congratulations to everyone who participated! There were some wonderfully thought-provoking ideas out there!

Also a big "thumbs up" to those of you who were able to complete an entry (or two, or three, or more). As usual, you've set the bar really high and I'm sure it will be difficult for the members to choose a favorite!
