Here's a few examples for those of you who are thinking of participating but wondering "how does this work?"

Ideally, you'll want to start your build thread with a shot of the parts you intend to use:

Your completed entry should have the shot of your parts followed by a shot of the completed project like this:

Of course, the rules allow a little bit of fudging on this as even the best of "advance engineering" may need tweaked to complete your entry.

Have fun!

although not elligable for the GB (since i started construction before the GB) i would like to show you a little secret 1/144 scratchbuilding project ive been working on, i nicknamed it the "Midge" and is inspired by boeing JSF entry.

i'll post it in the workbench page when its done, evertthing except for the wings, tail & landinggear doors is build from spares
she doesnt look that good on the pic, but the model is less then 7cm long
on the bench:

-all kinds of things.

I love that little "flying gas tank" that appears to be in....Rumanian(?) markings. Looks like a sport plane or a trainer. What do you call it?

I took a 1/144 He-111, put a Ar-96 engine on it, an open cockpit, some spatted landing gear from a Northrop Gamma (perfectly matched up to the He-111's engine bulges), put a machine-gun in the top of each spat, and proclaimed it an Argentinian fighter trainer (and yes, the guns fire just BARELY outside the propeller arc!). The He-111's ventral gondola became the radiator; the top gunner's position became the cockpit. Amazing what re-configuring will do to the look of a model! No one at my model club recognized the He-111 base until I pointed it out.

OK, OK, I TALKED about it, now show it!!
My mind is like a compost heap: both "fertile" and "rotten"!

That's just brilliant, Sequoiaranger! Love those spats and I'm really impressed at your vision and skill in incorportating such dis-similar kits into one gorgeous model!

NAMC ZJ-1 "Fishsauce"

This one was built for Deino's chinese jet GB way back in the day. Although I DID buy kits intending to use them for the build, they could've just as likely been from the spares bin... I counted parts from at least 11 different kits went into this one

Main donors...
1/72 Hobbycraft MiG-25, Su-22
1/48 Italeri Eurofighter Typhoon

Heh heh, started out with a "simple" kitbash of an Aichi M6A, then threw in some Me 410, then some Ju 188, then some FW 190, add undercarriage from an Su-22....

The tube thing sticking out from under the nose is a from a fairly ill-conceived gunpod.

Hi
don't know if this is acceptable for the junkyard?
It's bits of Unicraft kits put together, I was going to say, under duress, but thought better of it.

Oh yes...I'm supposed to give it a title...'Henschel Hs Schief'

Cheers

Flitzer

Apologies
Just realised the Hs thing here was built a year or so ago, so its not eligable for this time.
So if the moderator would like to move it to the land of Junkyard Past, please be my guest.

Cheers.

Nice, but possibly more Blohm & Voss rather than Henschel? ;D ;D

That's really cool, Flitzer! I'll be glad to move it over to the "inspiration showcase" for this Group Build. We've still got two weeks, maybe four (if the vote is for an extension) to go in this group build and it would be great to have you join in!

Welcome to What-If! That's one heck of an introduction!

Hey BdaB is the Bushmaster eligible? I built it out of parts that were obtained for other projects.

As long as the project was started within the group build timeframe and you've got a shot of the parts you used when you started, it's eligible. It's a crackerjack of a project!
