Still coming along, slowly but surely. The air brakes donated by an Airfix U-2 have now been installed, just a bit more sanding to smooth out the edges and then some putty around the edges. The sharp-eyed among us will notice that they are upside-down compared to the U-2, that's because I like them better this way, especially since it would be easier to leave them than fix the boo-boo I made. Oops, was that out loud?

Not sure if I should fit it with the belly tank that I've swiped from the Frog Attacker. I'm not certain if it could be jettisoned, but since I do have a reference calling it a 'drop tank' (Supermarine Fighter Aircraft, by Victor Bingham, page 140) it's a tempting idea.

The Wooksta!

There is no belly tank in the Frog Attacker.  There have been vacform and resin add ons but never with the kit.

Looking forward to seeing it finished.

You're right, just checked and the colours don't match. And it's actually a Novo re-pop. So where the hell did I get it from?  Maybe it came with it. I bought it at a show, partially started, so maybe the previous owner scrounged it from somewhere. Definitely injected styrene, not vac or resin. And the front end seems more streamlined than the Attacker's tank was.

It's terrible getting old. :banghead:

The modern AZ Attacker comes with a belly tank but that's a doubtful source I reckon. Someone did an injected one way back when, maybe Maintrack? It's the sort of thing they would do.

Could it have come from a Meteor kit? I think the old FROG kit had that tank, and it was more streamlined at the front than the Attacker's tank.

You may have nailed it, I've got the Frog F.Mk.IV somewhere in the stash.

The Attacker's tank meets the fuselage almost vertically at the front, as does that from the Swift, whereas the Meteor tank is tapered up, almost symmetrically fore and aft.

Well that would describe it, but I just checked my stash and found I lied earlier about the Frog F.Mk.IV, it's actually the Matchbox Meteor NF.14/12/11. So I'm back to square 1, trying to figure out where this piece could have come from.  :banghead:
