Okay, here it is. Sorry about the blurry first pic, the macro on this camera sucks. The part has fine, raised detail lines running laterally:

And as you can see, it would make an excellent fit:

Yep, that is a Meteor's tank.

And the colour of it would suggest Matchbox ---

Pretty sure it doesn't match the colour of the one in my stash.

It looks like the Matchbox Meteor NF tank and don't forget they had multi coloured sprues

Yep, mine has grey and green, but I'm pretty sure the grey doesn't match. Okay, I'll haul it out and check, hang on a a tic...

Okay, it IS from the Matchbox bit, here's where it went wrong - I opened the box and found two sprues, one green and one grey. Grey didn't match. Checked more thouroughly this time, poured the whole box onto the bench and found there are THREE colours! And it matches the one I didn't see poking out the end on my previous cursory glance.

Mystery solved. Thanks Chris!

Yup, it should be a Three Color Kit. But the tones tend to differ between production batches, as I recently found out.

And the Revell and Xtrakit moulded versions were all single colour, but different ones of course.

Love to see a Swift in the true scale ;D. Hope Trump or HB come up trumps. Maybe even Airfix :o.

I haven't had a micrometer on it, but from what I hear it's a pretty accurate 1/72nd. And, apart from details like totally inaccurate wing fences and other little lumps and bumps, the overall outline is apparently very good.

The resurrection!

Yep, this one is back on the bench. I'm not going to worry myself over a detailed wing fold, which was what caused me to put it away years ago. If it looks uncluttered, so be it. I've started detailing the interior, building up a nosewheel well and started boxing in the cockpit. Lots of weight packed in, might try to fit more on the other fuselage half.

Roof of the nosewheel well, with a bit of sprue on top to help brace it.

And the cockpit box so far, still a lot of work to do but I was eager to get a post up.
