So yesterday lunchtime, the Tiffie looked likethis:-

And after a severe mauling with my trusty (entry level) AZTEK, it looked like this when I took the masking off, this afternoon:-

So that's the 'basic' painting completed, next decals and (light) weathering.

That's really nice Ian! You're one of the most talented painters around these parts.

Now that I see the scheme SEAC markings are a natural for it! Great work!

Hello,  My first visit to WhatIfModelers and I am impressed.  Some good free thinking going on.  Love it.

I am going to show my ignorance and ask what are the masking agents you used on the Typhoon.  My guess that it is Silly Putty and the liquid mask it fairly obvious.  I've heard about using Silly Putty but have never seen it done and have never tried it myself.

There is no doubt that I have just scratched the surface of this site.  This is going to be fun.

Sorry to highjack the thread but as a boot myself I have heard of the silly putty thing  before but are we talking about the same product? I am from Texas , silly putty is a rubberlike flesh colored novelty item that comes in a plastic egg and you can stick it to newsprint  and pick up the image. What is the purple masking agent ya'll use. I have some liquid masking  that I plan to learn to use for the Skyrocket/ Avenger  but I have no experience.

You know me and SEAC shemes Ian

I'm assuming the "Silly Putty" is what we in Her Britannic Majesty's Islands call "Blue Tack". A soft plastecine like substance which you can buy in sheets and is used to stick posters to walls etc, dosn't inpair the surface and can be played with for hours - suprisingly it's blue
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

That is an amazing looking Typhoon Ian, looks great in SEAC colours. Also, nice to see someone else using the blue tac/maskol method of masking as well.

So here's the latest progress. Still not weathered, just decalled and the drop-tanks from an unsuspecting Eduard Tempest glued on... the smart*rses amongst you will have noticed that I haven't yet painted these.... I can brush paint them at a later date - no biggy. Decals came from a 1:72 Tempest sheet (US codes & 56 Squadron flash) a 1:48 Tempest sheet (A), a 1:48 Typhoon sheet (serial) and a generic Almarc sheet (roundels/fin flash).

Thanks for looking
