Had a client call for a fast build, so starting on friday, I just wrapped up this monster. Whew, what a build!  Will have pics as soon as I get enough daylight.

Decided to do it on a water diorama. That plaster and aluminium foil techniqe really works!

Tremendous diorama.  The water and the crewmen, with the great lighting, it just looks real for some reason.

We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.

Everything looks better with the addition of British Roundels!

You could have done a better job cleaning up the seam on the island.
Those aircraft, come on, you should have gotten those cockpits right!
And your deck markings are all wrong! I have a reference in the back of a comic book that shows a drawing of an alternate universe sister of Nimitz that clearly shows those lines are canary yellow, not off white.

Sheesh, the things some people try to pull on us reel navel fanboys...

In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

Hmmm, not bad, not bad....but I'd sure like to see some of your "in-progress" build pics!

Well, I would have loved to share more of the workinprogress pics, but the timeline was just soooo, just sooo...tight?

A one to one model is not a model it's an aircraft carrier. You should have built it to scale. A- :o

Greg,

Don't you remember - you did take those in progress pics - you sent them to me:

All hail the God of Frustration!!!

Hmmm, it's good, but it could be great if it wan't for a few minor points.  The wake should 1.5mm wider for the Nimitz's speed & the prevailing conditions, it says so on the IPMS Stockholm site.  The buttons on the tunics of the crewman are of the wrong type, they stopped using those on the 1st Aril 1976.  Oh & the one glaring fault, you missed the stain that was left after a crewman managed to snaffle a burrito from the galley & a Tomcat blew it out of his hand in 1981.  It's been permanently baked on by years of jet efflux & despite many attempts, they've never managed to get rid  of it!!!

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.
