The first of the Nimrod AEW3 conversions has been previewed on Euromodeller website.

Looks good although not sure about the clear resin speculation for the nose conversion, personally i think the idea will be to use the kit canopy attached to the replacement nose.

hmm, looks good.

and i see cammett is involved somehow, so it won't be a problem getting the kit when it comes out. they do do
the odd model show in the uk.

Looks good.  Of course, we don't have to use it on a Nimrod....

In a book I've got the same arrangement is used on a jet powered Andover (different size of course).  Martin H posted a Ferranti ad that had it mounted on several platforms.  This conversion could fit several large airliner or bomber kits, with a bit of cutting & plenty of putty.  The 707 would be a natch.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Considering the nose that is included, a Caravelle perhaps? Apart from that, 737 (there are some old kits of the 100 and/or 200, any others?), Dassault Mercure (no 1/72 kits though), 707 (obviously), 757 (any kits available though?), MD-80/DC-9 (AIM does/did a kit).

You can get kits of larger airliners in 1/72, but there's only a handful of injection kits.  The rest tend to be resin or vacform & can be very expensive.  Other options would be transports, the C-130 & C-160 spring to mind.

There's one real world possibility other than the Nimrod AEW & that's the Comet 4 radar testbed.  No Comet 4 in 1/72 that I know of, Welsh Models do a 1/72 Comet 1/1A so you'd need to do a hefty conversion, then modify the AEW conversion set to fit a Comet rather than a Nimrod.  Probably one for a 'serious' modeler!

My friend Steve Gardner (forum member britjet) saw the conversion at the model show held at the RAF Museum Cosford this weekend on the Cammett table and was of a pre-production version.  He was told that the conversion will be available in a couple of weeks and cost about GBP25.00.  He sent me a photo and it seems they have done what Geoff had suggested be done.

Yeap had a good look at the first test shot at Cossie and talked to its creator.

Yes the kit canopy was always intended to be used the replacement ose is designed to slide straight onto the cut down fwd fuselage.
The rear plug is shown as solid but will be hollow cast wit a foam core to keep tail weight down.

Certainly will be purchasing it once production starts.

Damn that looks good

No doubt, Nevster !

And if you were rich, you could buy four sets and use the rear radome as a giant turbine engine to do a funky Russian bomber or somat. It sure looks like a squat version of the Bears inner nacelle !

Mach 2 has a 1/72 caravelle, but she's really a bitch (or a dog, as you prefer).
Heller has a 1/72 scale 707 and, even better, and E-3F (the french variant).

It could be funny to graft those bumps into an Heller Sentry... two AWACS into a single machine!

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.
