Greetings!
I've been poking around this forum for a while now, and I figured it was time to raise my head and share a project.
Not only is this a What-if plane, it's inspired by a what-if movie!

IN 1971, Hammer films in the UK came up with an idea for a film called 'Petradactyls Vs. Zepplin', it was never made, the company went broke shortly after. All that was porduced was a poaster showing biplanes dueling pteradactyls over a jungle while the badly damaged zepplin mothership flew over head.

I found out about this film about a day before a Fokker D.VII I bought off eBay turned up... it was fate, it was destiny...

So I'm building a simple diorama showing a Fokker D.VII dueling a Pterasaur (A Pteranodon to be precise). The plane is almost finished, and has been fitted with a very simple docking mechanism inspired by that used by the US Navy for it's Sparrowhawk airship carrier based fighters in the 1930s. The Pteranodon is in the post.

Here are some pics (or atleast, links to pics, I'm not mad about inline images since I spend so much fo my time with the 'net shaped to 64k after blowing my download limit)

Incidentally, I've also posted a bit about this build on the Starship Modeler forum and because I am so nice, here's a link. There's a bit more info about the porject over there, but not that much more.

Welcome to the asylum, Puddingwrestler! That's one heck of an introduction! I'm a huge fan of airships and aircraft carried/launched from airships and I really like that D.VII with skyhook that you've built! I've got a Curtiss F-9C in the stash and as I've got to scratch-build a skyhook for it I'd be very interested in hearing how you managed to make such a convincing skyhook for your Fokker.

Nice work!

Thanks guys.

B777LR: Yes, that is the poster. The Youtube video was infact produced in the last couple of years by another fan of the film. He spliced it together out fo several old Republic movie serials apparently.

Brian: err... five pieces of plasticard, one of which has been sort of carved... upclose it's nothing special.

Sotoolslinger: The Pteranodon is in the post. It's a Schliech single piece toy. I've used Schliech toys before (I mounted a warhammer goblin on one of thier chickens cause I ran out of wolves...) and they are nicely detailed and well textured. It'll just be a case of a bit of a re-paint and then mounting it.

I'll be adding the decals to this kit later today, and trying out those special decal fluids for the first time. Pics when there are pics!

oh... and if you want a look at past projects have a squiz at my website, there are a couple of OOB Luft 46 builds there (okay, so the Komet is not strictyl Luft 46 or OOB since I painted it up in north-african camo...)The Vault of the Puddingwrestler

Has to be one of the most innovative/eye-catching thread subject lines I've ever seen here.

Update: I've added the decals to the Fokker. There'll be a little bit of weathering to blend them in, but that's about it for the plane. Since I'm still awaiting the arrival of the Pteranodon I'm working on another project as well.

When he arrives, the pteranodon will just need a repaint and then atachment to the base, so this is pretty nearly finished all round actually...

Oh, ye shall be punished for telling something as funny as that, so we demand pictures of such hilarious sights! :tornado: ;D

Zeppelin V Pterodactyl, what a title for a film!  Looking forward to this PW!!!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Looking good PW  I've got one of those Schleich Pteranodons, very nicely sculpted. Looking forward to more pics :)
