Here's something I built last year which I thought I should share, the Anderson GA-21 Interceptor. I was inspired by the kitbashed guest aircraft on Gerry Anderson shows like Thunderbirds, Stingray and to a lesser extend Captain Scarlett (where the kitbashes were less obvious), so I set out to build my own.
I used an Italeri F-104 and an Amodel Yak-28 for the wings. It was at this point that I discovered how terrible aModel kits are! I spent more time on puttying the engine nacells than the rest of the build!
The orange coluor scheme was just so impractical for a real plane but so very Anderson that I had to use it!

And yes, I know it is aerodynamically unsound. That is beside the point.

I was not as accomplished a painter/weatherer at that date so things are a touch below my current standard (didn't use pastels at the time) Also note this was before I got my nice new camera, so the photos are kinda bodgey...

About half way through the build.
Behold! The putty!

The back is also complete!
Even the nose is complete!

I had planned to mount this on a dioramic display base with a tender truck of some sort. Unfrotunately, the onmline store I was buying the parts required (couldn't find them elsewhere) screwed me over and took about two months to send me the wrong parts...

In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

Ed S

Definitely looks like something that could have been on a Gary Anderson show.

We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.

I love the way you guys can throw parts from dissimilar kits together and come out with such winners like this one!
Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

Most cool !  Dig the colour too...love that Gerry red.

I have built a display base for this - just a simple runway. As mentioned there was going to be a tender truck but the cursed online store screwed me over. However.... hmmm.... I have a 1/72 Quad gun tractor... I'm sure I can get something Andersonian out of that

Very Gerry Anderson

Even the paint job is FAB!
Get this Cheese to sick bay!

I can now confirm the tender will be an unholy Morrisquad/Sherman combo! Which I shall commence to strat this eventide. And porbably paint bright yellow.

As they would say in SupermarionationWorld - PWOR, FAB and SIG!
By the way, anyone remember the Peter Cook and Dudley Moore skit 'Superthunderstingcar' (http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=6174426)?

Oh yeah, very Gerry Anderson!  And you used a Starfighter too, very much a GA staple, & added to that a bright paint job made grimy!  This would look very much in place in an episode of Thunderbirds, fantastic work!

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Started work on the tender vehicle.

It's a combination of bits from Morris Quad tractor and Sherman tank. The mighty search light thingee is from an M60, and the gun mount thing on the roof is actually a radar mount, just not finished yet.
This vehice acts as a tracking and mobile control center for test flights.

Correction: For M60 read M48 Patton - got my M's mixed up!
