From what I understand of the ceramic tiles on the shuttle, that are somewhat fragile.  They are apparently sort of a ceramic foam and probably would not stand up to the abuses of being mounted on a armored vehicle.

what I was thinking was to use it as one of the Layers of a layered composite armor sort of as a lightweight CHOBHAM idea for hovercraft.I know chobham is far to heavy for a hovercraft (and would be far more protective than my concept)

How about going for an Active Defence system such as the Russian ARENA-E to reduce weight?

Maybe a couple of layers of composite, and that new charged electrical armour being developed for FRES etc? I also saw a youtube video recently of a tiny VLS system that could be mounted on a tank, to destroy incoming RPG rounds. Something like that would be ideal. Maybe the Israeli TROPHY system or something similar as well...?

my plans for an active defense system willl be a metalstorm based system http://www.metalstorm.com/
sort of like a mimi CIWS Phalanx unit, probably one on each facing of the vehicle for 360* protection and a auto reload system for it.probably something 6mm in caliber,i figure a couple dozen 6mm rounds would shred a rpg or antitank missle

I liked the idea from Hammer's.  Claymore type devices that are triggered by proximity to incoming rounds.  The one lack I saw in the books was that this was a one time use leaving that area vulnerable to additional attacks.  Maybe a triple band of devices to provide redundancy (chances of 3 rounds being fired at the exact same location during a battle would be extremely rare).  These would have to be replaced by Maintenance after any action.

Wow, I really like the blurring camoflage.  Makes it very hard to focus on the target.

a better shot of the "Luki"

Think I've still got some 2300AD stuff up the attic. ;D

I love "Lukis" as a knickname for Luftkissenpanzers (hovertanks): a worthy successor to "panzer".
