The twin tail booms (okay, bits of round sprue with fins on the ends) have been installed and I'm puttying and sanding them. The exact weapons fit is confirmed as both bombs from the Academy kit plus the academy rocket pods. I'm not sure where the Hasegawa bombs have gone, and in any case their mounting point doohickeys are molded onto the wings, or they'd probably be on there as well.

I've also decided not to fit the rear part of the canopy. Not because there isn't room (there is), but because it looks much cooler with an open cockpit.

I'm thinking this thing belongs to a small South American nation which is basically all jungle and rivers, so their airforce consists of float planes launched from rivers. I'm also thinking about a fairly bright pre-war colour scheme - something like red cowling and green body.

Pics tonight, and probably the beginning of the paint scheme tonight. If I don't get distracted by Super Paper Mario, Space Race, or the 40K Ork warbikes I'm re-building...

<badly translated video game> Painting start! </badly translated video game>

I started the painting this morning, the Thundercat is being painted up in the colours of the tiny South America nation of San Torta, an island nation which is almost all dense jungle and rich silver mines...

The main colour is Tamiya Olive green, the front cowling and control surfaces are all painted Citadel red gore at present. Dry brushing, weathering and generally making things look well and truely beaten up will ensue. Still thinking about the actual markings. I'd like to use red triangles I think, but I don't know if I have any. Rummaging in the decal box will be needed! Photos may even be accused of existing...

Actually, photos do exist, but I keep playing the Wii instead of loading them up

And lo, the Puddingwrestler said 'let there be pics!' and there were, cause he finally got round to uploading the darn things...

What is this 'trwis' of which you speak?

Decals are going on now. Wing numbers from Academy P-47, nose art from Revell FW-190D, Squadron numbers from Tamiya Bren Carrier(!) and various warnings from Italeri F-104... more warning markers to go on later. National insignia (red triangles) will have to be painted on because I can't find anything in my decal box. I'm pretty stuck on triangles, cause they represent slices of cake - the very cake which San Torta is named after!

Weathering (and lots of it!) will take place once the decals are set.
